Hi
I have just acquired a really nice condition little 48K Rubber Key Speccy along with a working ZX Interface 1. I didn't give it a full once over until this morning as all i had time for was to turn it on and give the keyboard a test.
So today i tried to load some Wav's, TZX's and finally some real cassette tapes and all with no success i could not get any audio in the Spectrum. It may be the socket but i'm not sure as everything is so fresh and unused i cannot imagine the socket being worn out - i will check it though. In the meantime can someone give me an idea of where to go next after the socket so i can check further into the PCB.
Thanks in advance guys.
Morph.

Are you sure your cables are wired correctly? Did the Spectrum not react to the audio at all? Did it at least flash the border?
Every man should plant a tree, build a house, and write a ZX Spectrum game.

I gave some helpful hints to someone with a similar problem over on Sinclair ZX World in this thread

OOOpps
I was using a Modern stereo 3.5 Male to stereo 3.5 Male plug. My other Spectrum is a +2B and i didn't realise i needed mono cables to get the sound.
I have managed to get some joy with a Mono-Mono lead converting TZX's to Wav's and then changing them to 24 Bit PCM and upping it to 48000Hz seems to work best especially with Speedloaders.
It has been so long since i owned a Rubber Key Spectrum i never noticed the little difference in the 3.5MM Plugs until i read about it on the web on a Blog.
Face-Palm a Go-Go.
