Guess the game from the review (Spectrum 2.0)

Zythum? Complete guess just because nobody's done it yet

Re: Guess the game from the review (Spectrum 2.0)
Nope. (and anyway the scroll for Zythum, by Mirrorsoft, is beyond reproach).

Sticking with the Zs....
Zub?
Zub?

Re: Guess the game from the review (Spectrum 2.0)
Nope, but thanks for the reminder - I've made so little progress with Zub, but I keep checking it out for the intro and general vibe (decent enough scroll too!)
This one is a maze game. Early 80s, and it looks and feels it.

Maziacs?
POKE 23614,10: STOP 1..0 hold, SS/m/n colors, b/spc toggle
Re: Guess the game from the review (Spectrum 2.0)
Nope.
Looking again, it's a push scroll, and it's not that bad IMO. Graphically it's got a touch of Turmoil about it.
Re: Guess the game from the review (Spectrum 2.0)
Bingo!
Possibly a bit harsh that review. The worst thing about it is the difficulty.
Re: Guess the game from the review (Spectrum 2.0)
It was the background music that gave it away.
How about:
How about:
And now I feel like a rambling old git by criticising the work of a man revered by the Speccy faithful over a game that's celebrated among his other classic work, oh wait it isn't. Nope this one has been pretty much forgotten about and perhaps for good reason. In fact the man said so himself going by Cruel's review, saying "it really was not too good" and that he did it "especially for the money". And you know what? He was right.

From a different reviewer:
You must avoid enemy fire while dispatching a number of law transgressors to move along the 10 different screens. This can be quite challenging because enemies use multiple shoots. Still it's totally possible to reach the end of the game.

Copout? Didn't know it was a Rafelle Cecco game.
Re: Guess the game from the review (Spectrum 2.0)
Almost an educational game, this thread!
Re: Guess the game from the review (Spectrum 2.0)
I'd never heard of it, let alone be able to guess it from that review. Aye not Cecco's finest, but it's alright. Cabal with more pigeons.

Obscure one this.
Genius! Possibly the best Spectrum game basic you've never played.
Its a collection of mini games where you have to get from one side of a bridge structure to another. Each node on the bridge gives a new challenge.
And theres the rub. Each game is cunningly created to be unfair. Sooo unfair. The game is fun in the same way that NetHack or Dwarf Fortress is fun. Its not the winning, or even the playing, but the inventive way you die.

OK, that was Abyss for CSS. A hidden gem in basic.

It's like Exolon except it's sh*t. I wouldn't say it's a "pirate" job, it's simply a game that takes inspirations from Exolon, but while it sort of achieves that in looks it certainly doesn't in its execution.

My turn:
"The main character is kind of funny and the animation quite good, but he looks completely different from his previous adventures.
If the game was a little easier I would rate it higher"

Re: Guess the game from the review (Spectrum 2.0)
Nope.
Note that the game has more than one prequel ("his previous adventures").
Also, the character is far diferent from those previous games.
