1. Urban Upstart - A computer game? Set in the real world? Not a laser or an orc in sight? Amazing.
2. Academy - I think I prefer this to Tau Ceti, and playing about with the GUI was fun.
3. Juggernaut - Beep beep. Beep Beep. Yeah.

a very difficult one, he is a genius:
1. Academy

Always technically impressive but not always all that much fun.
Brainstorm got my vote.

1. Tau Ceti 128K Special Edition
2. Brainstorm
3. Micronaut One
Definitely an original thinker. I appreciate how many of Pete Cooke's games were trying to do something new.
As a result his games were not always very accessible.

1. Academy - For the mission variety. skimmer designer, star map, and the minified version of Tau Ceti just in case I was still in any doubt
2. Tau Ceti 128K - This is the definitive version although there's not a huge difference between the two
3. Micronaut 1 - Spectrum graphics never looked better
I can't stop there though. There's way too much good stuff left to end with a bubbling under.
4. Juggernaut - Whenever anyone asks what useful skills I learned thanks to the Spectrum, I usually answer with reversing a trailer
5. Stunt Car Racer - Great port of the Geoff Crammond classic
6. A Whole New Ball Game - The best game ever on a cover tape
7. Urban Upstart - The pick of his text adventures and certainly a change from the fantasy treasure hunts of the time
8. Room Ten - Yeah, it's basically 3D Pong but that's no bad thing
9. Earthlight - Quality scrolling shooter with neat parallax effect
10. Brainstorm - Another neat little puzzler

1. Academy - a masterpiece. Never played Tau Ceti (if you're wondering why it's not below).
2. Invincible Island - the second text adventure I ever played (after The Hobbit) and a decent one even if it is written in BASIC.
3. Earthlight - the only other Pete Cooke game I've played (well Micronaut One - but I hated that).
Although not a Speccy game I thoroughly enjoyed Pete's game on the Atari ST - Tower of Babel. And let's not forget that he helped out Geoff Crammond with Grand Prix 1, 2 and 3.

Juggernaut (Loved how you had to be quick and efficient, but couldn't speed and how it was hard to reverse without jack-knifing the vehicle. Tough to master, but great fun).
Tau Ceti (I never had instructions, never understood what to do, but i kept coming back to it and playing it (best i knew how) so many times...
Urban Upstart. Another great adventure game.

I don't have anything cool to put here, so i'll just be off now to see a priest with yeast stuck between his teeth and his friend called Keith who's a hairpiece thief...

Re: Devfinitive Edition (Pete Cooke): vote
I can't remeber playing any of those games except Tau Ceti (which I won from Crash for my spaceship design} and I didn't enjoy that
Re: Devfinitive Edition (Pete Cooke): vote
1. Tau Ceti - expanded. Humbly submit that final vote count should combine the Tau Ceti scores - there is not much difference..
2. Stunt Car Racer. Unique, very playable.
3. Room Ten. Again, very playable.
Never played Juggernaut - I am going to be firing it up on my emulator tonight, as there seems to be a fair amount of love for it. Ditto Brainstorm.

Re: Devfinitive Edition (Pete Cooke): vote
Academy is Pete Cooke's best ZX Spectrum game, according to this poll, where it gained 7 votes. (Mind you, if you take original Tau Ceti and the special edition Tau Ceti votes, put them together, you'd have a tie, as, combined, they get 7 votes too.)
In second place, Juggernaut - 6 votes.
Joint third? Stunt Car Racer and the original Tau Ceti. 5 votes each.
Urban Upstart has 3 votes, making it fourth.
Brainstorm, Maze Chase, Micronaut One, Room Ten, the special edition of Tau Ceti and A Whole New Ball Game each get 2 votes, making them joint fifth place.
Then you have Earthlight and Zolyx, gaining 1 vote each to be in joint sixth place.
Oh and here are the proportional results!:
Academy by CRL 19
Stunt Car Racer by Micro Style 10
Tau Ceti - The Special Edition by CRL 8
Brainstorm by Firebird 7
Juggernaut by CRL 7
Urban Upstart by Richard Shepherd Software 6
Micronaut One by Nexus Productions 5
Room Ten by CRL 5
Tau Ceti by CRL 5
20 Tons by Spectrum Computing 2
Earthlight by Firebird 2
Invincible Island by Richard Shepherd Software 2

Love that Juggernaut came second.
How I cam to play it...
Year 2000. Talking to a fellow student at uni.
Talking about our first computers
I mentioned I had once had a spectrum.
He got very excited and took the the internet. Found Juggernaut online and taught me to play it.
What a game!
It's like crashing a car in bullet time
