UDG advent calendar thread

Post by R-Tape »

Let's see if this has legs: A festive UDG advent calendar. The idea is that at least one person posts a Christmas-themed UDG every day up to and including Chrimbobo :santa

Here goes nothing!

00001000
00011100
00111110
00011100
00111110
01111111

00001000

⬜⬜⬜⬛⬛⬛⬜⬜
⬜⬜⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛⬜
⬜⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛
⬜⬜⬜⬜⬛⬜⬜⬜
⬜⬜⬜⬜⬛⬜⬜⬜

(and here it is using @Patrik Rak's unicode characters U+2B1B and U+2B1C.

A superlative suggestion, sir, with just two minor flaws. One, there can't be that many Christmas-themed images that'll fit into an 8×8 UDG. And two... there can't be that many Christmas-themed images that'll fit into an 8×8 UDG. Now, I realise that, technically speaking, that's only one flaw but I thought it was such a big one it was worth mentioning twice.

Nevertheless, now that we're Living After Midnight and it's 2nd December, I'll make one:

01111100
10101010
10101010
10101010
10101010
10101010
10101010
01111100

⬛⬜⬛⬜⬛⬜⬛⬜
⬛⬜⬛⬜⬛⬜⬛⬜
⬛⬜⬛⬜⬛⬜⬛⬜
⬛⬜⬛⬜⬛⬜⬛⬜
⬜⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛⬜⬜

Bah! Humbug!

May you not find many such partially-melted humbugs gumming up the tape deck of your +2 after leaving them too close to the festive fire and where your five-year-old nephew could get hold of them and stuff them into all sorts of places that they shouldn't be.

ALSO: I expect a set of 21 of these to be SAVEd "advent" CODE USR "a" and presented as part of the WOOT! package. Right?
Spectribution: Dr. Jim's Sinclair computing pages.
Features my own programs, modified type-ins, RZXs, character sets & UDGs, and QL type-ins... so far!

Nice UDG. Your next challenge is Scrooge in 64 pixels!

Nah it'll be a piece of pudding. The challenge will be not repeating @Kweepa's Advent Calendar, which I got us off to a bad start, but it's a different arrangement of pixels at least.

That's not a bad idea. Let's see how they turn out...

Is there an online way of creating a UDG essentially a way of editing the 8x8 grid?

Nice! Like my own festive gift-giving the emphasis goes on the ribbons and ephemera to draw attention away from the modest size of the gift! :santa

There are 2^64 = 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 (about 18 quintillion) possible 8x8 UDGs.

Although only a small percentage of them look meaningful, and only a percentage of those can be interpreted as Christmas related theme... I still suspect we won't exhaust them all very soon.
