Yeah, be prepared for a LOT of deja-vu because Ian Morrison worked with David Anderson on a lot of Speccy games, so the majority of this poll matches the David Anderson poll! Tch, annoying but I can't do anything about that!
Tough... BITD, i guess Enduro Racer got the most playtime...
Tapper, very close behind it and i remember rather liking the cheaper looking Brain Damage.
But BeachHead also got some playtime too, and i absolutely hate sports games, but World Series Basketball i actually enjoyed as well...
A tough group to sort.
Enduro Racer
Tapper
Brain Damage
Honorables to
BeachHead
and
World Series Basketball
I don't have anything cool to put here, so i'll just be off now to see a priest with yeast stuck between his teeth and his friend called Keith who's a hairpiece thief...
Nightmare Rally is a really under appreciated original game, especially from the Ocean era when it was churning out lots of licensed junk.
He also clearly used the engine for Enduro Racer and Out Run and it’s easily his best original game that isn’t a conversion of some description, so that’s why it got my vote.
Chase HQ II looks like it's squeezed everything down to run in the tiniest share of the bottom few lines of the screen, and still can't manage a playable frame rate. I'm assuming it's the same terribly slow code from Out Run and Turbo Out Run in there. And there seems to be hardly any point in calling the road rendering function in Turbo Out Run anyway, as it's shrunk down so far you can't see anything past the player's car. Enduro Racer was a lot smoother and actually playable. That Out Run code just got worse and worse with each re-hash.
1 - Enduro Racer
2 - Nightmare Rally - my mate and I used to spend ages playing this with the sole aim of jumping off a pile of rocks to get the car to flip 360.
3 - Beach Head
Somehow I changed my mind and have a bit of a different order here.
1. Nightmare Rally
2. Beach Head
3. Lode Runner
As for Turbo Outrun, it looks terrible. But I was watching the arcade version of it earlier, and it does look very similar.
I guess the problem there is, that someone (probably at Sega) decided that the similar looks was more important than how it would have looked on the spectrum, or how it played.
The arcade game had very little view too, but it made up for its speed.
Lastly, the game engine can do lots of things, like scrolling up and down. But unfortunately the levels were designed that only 0.1% of the game had hills, so all those lovely up and down scrolling was almost never used.
Enduro Racer has raced into first place, well ahead of everything else, with 13 votes.
A distant joint second for Beach-Head; Lode Runner; Raid Over Moscow and World Series Baseball - three votes each.
Then we get Chase HQ II; Nightmare Rally and Tapper with two votes each for joint third.
Finally, Beach-Head II; Colour Clash; Exterminator; Out Run and World Series Basketball sit in joint fourth place.
Similar showings in the proportional results:

Beach-Head by US Gold 9
Nightmare Rally by Ocean 7
Tapper by US Gold 7
World Series Baseball by Imagine 7
Raid Over Moscow by US Gold 2
Beach-Head II by US Gold 1
Brain Damage by Silversoft 1
World Series Basketball by Imagine 1
And thankfully, the thorny issue of Out Run Europa... no kind of vote for that at all, so there's the elephant in the room ignored!
