Yes! I'm following the development for quite some time now, and looks very interesting. The developer has built the engine from the ground up, and he is trying to keep 50 fps, which is pretty ace.

!!! Finished !!!

Check it, it's really good
It's good graphics, good music and very smooth.
Actually I played it for about 40 minutes until the end. First "honestly", later with snapshots It doesn't happen often to me nowadays, maybe with 3 or 4 new Spectrum games per year.
I value it as 8/10
Why not 10/10? Because:
- it's too difficult for me to play it normally
- sprites sometimes flicker
- bosses are lame, hit and run tactics works in every case

Pretty neat, but I don’t get the point of getting totally stuck when you collide with an enemy. You can’t move or hit and your life meter slowly drains. That’s a little annoying. (Is there a secret move I can perform to free myself?)
Every man should plant a tree, build a house, and write a ZX Spectrum game.

Re: Mister Kung Fu: A new Kung Fu Master game in progress!
Thanks for the news, Ralf!
I just downloaded and played it and I must say it's really good, very close to the arcade game. It's how the US Gold game should have been.
The movement and punches/hits are very well done, and the moment you get stuck because some enemies are catching you is very realistic, like in the original game.
I'm only missing the arcade's intro tune! EDIT: just realized there's a 128k version, sorry!
Congrats to the people behind this game, it's really good!

That's like in the original arcade. Just try to move quickly left and right to get rid of them.Ast A. Thanks! I tried that, but I guess I wasn’t quick enough.Juan F. Ramirez wrote: ↑Sat Dec 29, 2018 7:53 pmThat's like in the original arcade. Yes, getting caught by an enemy is a weaker point of the game, making it difficult, as I said before.
When enemy catches our hero, you have to press left and right quickly to shake him off. Unfortunately very often before you manage to do it, you are caught by another enemy, and another and another so your energy drains very quickly.
It's the same behaviour as in the arcade, this remake is very faithful to the original. But yes, it's annoyng.

This is outstanding. I don't think we'd ever get games like this if the ZX-Dev didn't exist. It plays so well, smooth and responsive, with a satisfying 'hit'. If it was released in the late 80s these guys would have a well deserved open-top sports car and concomitant drug problem!
It took me over 10 goes to reach Floor 2, after which I was quickly demolished. I never played the arcade game, so this may be a perfect version, but I'd prefer a bit more energy (or slower energy depletion when 'caught') to make it more palatable for us leg-jiggling modern gamers.
Still, this looks a potential winner already!

Re: Mister Kung Fu: A new Kung Fu Master game in progress!
Just downloaded, played and it's amazing the quality of the game
Yes, the ZX-Dev is indeed a nice incentive, but in the past ten years we are having a lot of excellent games made for fans and not from commercial companies. Don't get me wrong: Ocean, Dinamic, Hewson and others made great games, but Mister Kung Fu is the last title that proves (again) that will makes better games than monetary profit
Cheers

The more I play it, the more I like it. Amazing.

For those who feel hopeless with this game, yet would like to reach the ending, here's the immunity poke. Don't use it in any other case

I think at last, justice has been done to KF Master with this great conversion.
Now time for One on One!
This time, a decent conversion compared to the great C64 game. Any hero?

Re: Mister Kung Fu: A new Kung Fu Master game in progress!
I might be the only person here who quite enjoyed playing the US Gold conversion...?
Anyway this one is much slicker - nice sprites, very nice scrolling and some pleasant little ditties (much more palatable than the ear-wrenching original Speccy tunes).
Like R-Tape I personally found it a bit hard (I had about a million goes but couldn't even get past the first guys throwing knives on the first level), but I suppose, as has already been mentioned the original(s) were flippin' difficult too so I guess it's remaining true to them.

Finally, the old and venerable Irem coin-op gets a proper Spectrum conversion after the feeble Ocean effort - 33 years later!
Release V1.1 is now available:
- High Score display
- Adjusted Enemy flow on 1st level
- slightly slowed down kick so it’s dangerous for slightly longer / easier to time
- fixed scoring bugs
- a few glitches fixed
- quicker loading time

Re: Mister Kung Fu: A new Kung Fu Master game in progress!
This is great! Does this mean there's hope for the Double Dragon remake? It would seem the most good modern Spectrum games have something in common: They were never discussed at length in forums before being released.
Re: Mister Kung Fu: A new Kung Fu Master game in progress!
Sadly I think that the Double Dragon project is pretty much dead unless someone else fancies coding it. All the graphics are complete but Jim Bagley is too busy with the Next to get anything else done on it.
