Request: SC users score
I think I requested it many months ago, but, again, in a forum with more than 400 members and more than 17,000 posts in only a year... don't you think it's time to include a 'SC users score' in every game entry instead of the current 'Original WoS score'?
PS: I promise to score Fred objectively!
Besides, a number of visits to any entry... is it possible to be displayed?

Hi Juan F. Ramirez
I still have your requests on the list. Hopefully we should be able to take the scores from Spectrums. The other suggestion.is good too, but could possibly get us into the tracking users debate.
I will discuss with the rest of the team. If anyone else out there wants to contribute with good PHP skills do get in touch

Re: Request: SC users score
Hehe, this was also one of the request I did when Spectrum Computing started, I think i would be quite useful as I think scores give a good idea of what games are very good, good, decent or bad.
Re: Request: SC users score
Einar Saukas am I right in recalling that you took over the development of Spectrum2.0?
Could we import the scores on a regular basis to ZXDB?

Done.
It could be a good solution.

Re: Request: SC users score
I know I am being a bit picky, but...could we get scores from 0 to 10? They are more accurates than 0 to 5
Thanks a lot, Peter

Re: Request: SC users score
Hi. I will look at the code.
Re: Request: SC users score
Try it now Ivanzx
I had to delete all the previous scores, but it should now allow between 1 and 10.

What about Weighted averages?
https://everydaycalculation.com/weighted-average.php
A number of grading categories like Planetasinclair blog (graphics, fun, music, replayability, originality)
Voters would choose value and weight for each category. For example some early games have poor sound but they are very fun, so a voter could set Music's weight lower than Fun).
This could also allow to search for games with a high rated category in particular, for example games with good Music.

You just have to go and overcomplicate things hikokihikoki wrote: ↑Sat Jan 19, 2019 1:51 pm What about Weighted averages?

Re: Request: SC users score
The score is also handy for many tricks. I maintain a Telegram bot that can pick a random game from the database. The idea was to recommend only games with a WOS score > 3, but that could leave a lot of (wonderful) modern games out of the list just because they don't have any WOS score. A SC score system can solve that

Re: Request: SC users score
To be honest I am not a fan of users' score, on WOS there have been cases of plain abuses of it, with people indiscriminately giving 1's or 10's just to make the average score go down or up.
I believe it would be better to link each game to the Spectrum 2.0 database, so that everybody can have a say about it, thus allowing different views to coexist without the risk of "piloting" the overall score.

Re: Request: SC users score
I like the idea of SC having it's own independent scoring system but I agree with Alessandro that it would also be nice to have the Spectrum 2.0 scores alongside. Forget the WOS scores, they're hopelessly out of date and the anonymity made them open to abuse (at least I think they were anonymous?).
May I also put into the mix the ZXSR Overall scores for each title by magazine? I think it would be quite cool to see how they were rated back in the day compared to now. The beauty of the ZXSR scores is that they're never going to change, unless more reviews for the titles are added (which is ongoing), so I could provide an extract that can be dumped into ZXDB or provide an API method. Personally I think the extract route is better - should anything happen to ZXSR, for instance. Also, being as they'd already be in ZXDB everyone would have access to them.

That's a good suggestion Vampyre and relatively straightforward to implement. Let me speak with Einar Saukas

Morning Vampyre
I spoke to Einar Saukas and he says he can certainly put that data into ZXDB. As you suggest an export would be best. You have my email address.
Thanks
