The best classic Speccy game beginning with #: discussion
Looking at the games list there's only one I played and that wasn't back in the day.
Someone else can kick this off. I don't think there's much of a choice anyway.

180
10th Frame
1942
1943
1985
2112AD
3 Deep Space
3D Tanx
4x4 Off Road Racing
720 Degrees
3D Construction Kit
3D Game Maker
No real stand outs but some half decent titles there. 10th Frame was an underrated gem IMO.

Could 3D Monster Maze count here? It's a 16K Zeddy game...
4 minute warning. Worth a mention for oldschool speccy character, originality and charm.
1985 - The Day After. Quite slick, plays better than it looks. Too hard of course. (Is that the "1985" you meant Vampyre?)

Surely 3D Deathchase deserves to win this.
Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with #: discussion
It's good, but not sure it deserves to win again! Though I'd like to give Dynamite Dan aka 2D-Dynamite Dan another bite of the cherry.
Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with #: discussion
That wasn't 3D Deathchase, that was Deathchase. They must be two different games.
Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with #: discussion
3D lunar Crabs - first game I ever bought for my beloved speccy.
I’d have to decide between 180, as I thought it was a brilliant darts game, and 3D death chase, which is an absolute classic, which even to this day it’s still a brilliant game.

Don't forget 911 TS!
Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with #: discussion
After a not knowing the titles in the y and z polls I’m happy to see some familiar games mentioned here. 180 and 1942 were two games I played a lot, and loved. My younger self used to think it was hilarious when the dog peed at the end of the bar in 180.
I also played 720 quite a bit, though always felt that it was a bit unsatisfactory, as there was never any real feeling of accomplishment with it.

I'd like to add...
11-a-Side Soccer by Code Masters
2088 by Zeppelin Games
Although I won't be voting for them. Clearly, the winner, if we're all sane, has to be Mastertronic's 180. That is gaming perfection for me, one of the greatest budget games ever made.
720° would be my second choice.
Big thanks to everyone who has taken over the running of this poll in my absence BTW.

British people and darts. A mystery.
I'm going for 1942 probably.

IIRC, the intro tune in 128k mode was cool. And a great game.PeteProdge wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2019 12:33 pm Clearly, the winner, if we're all sane, has to be Mastertronic's 180. That is gaming perfection for me, one of the greatest budget games ever made.

3D Seiddab Attack an obvious missing classic there?
I'd also add 3D Painter to the list. It wouldn't win in a million years, but it was one of the games I got with my 16K Speccy so I have a soft spot for it.
180 is the obvious standout for me here - best darts game ever!

I would have added 911TS too but Juan remembered it...
I don't have anything cool to put here, so i'll just be off now to see a priest with yeast stuck between his teeth and his friend called Keith who's a hairpiece thief...

For me it would be 3d Deathchase followed by
180 the best Darts game period.

I quite enjoyed 720 but couldn't work out for ages why I couldn't score many points when doing tricks etc. Turned out that it was because I was using Cursor/Sinclair controls. As soon as I switched to the standard keys with rotational movement, it was quite easy..
Those bees could get annoying though..

Really enjoyed 3D-Tanx.
And 3D Space-Wars was the first game I ever owned on a Spectrum.
Anyway, why are some '3D...' games listed alphabetically under their subsequent title and not all in one place under '#'?
That and you can't search for '3D' either as the search insists on at least 3 letters. And if you search for '3-D' you get one page of results, then it refuses to let you advance to page 2.

Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with #: discussion
Attention PeterJ - you probably want to fix this: the search box on the front page isn't filtering non-alphanumeric characters correctly. It removes "-" from "3-D" but it doesn't remove "&", "%" or "*" (maybe others too) which appear to be working as wildcards. This means you can bypass the 3 character minimum, and even use "***" which returns most of the zxdb database on a single page!

Thanks StooB
I will fix the ***

We will review again
PS. In future could you PM things like this? Cheers.
