Woot! 2019 Submissions wanted

Post by R-Tape »

Image

It might feel a tad early to talk about christmas, given that many of you are probably having a barbeque this evening*, but I wanted to put a call out early doors for submissions to Woot! 2019.

Pretty much anything is welcome: games; minigames; demos; music; art; articles, can be polemic; SCREEN$; gags, or ideas for them; cartoons etc.

It'll need an AY track to accompany the mag part if anyone's up for that.

Even if you just have an idea for a cartoon, article, fake interview, gag or mashup idea post or PM it so that I can realise it. Check out the 2016, 2017 & 2018 editions for inspiration.

The deadline will be early December.

*in your fleece.

I thought I'd give this a bump while there's still time for people to work on something (and it must be nearly Christmas because I had 4 mince pies last week).

It's looking good so far—2 complete games submitted, and I've nearly finished one as well.

This has just reminded me how far I haven't got with BunnyGun in the last 9 months!

Aah, but unlike me, you probably won't give up code wrestling and do your idea in AGD.

Minor edit (sounded wrong)

Hi Dave, I don't think I can contribute with a game, I still have to test Ad Lunam for the 1.0 release (and translate it and the manual to Spanish thereafter).

How about a retrospective of 1989 in the Spectrum world?

Sounds good to me. Did you have a standalone TAP in mind, or articles that I need to fit into the magazine? If the latter, then the wordcount is quite restrictive, so the former would better.

Do you mean a feature similar to the one you did for AGD games last year? That would allow me to insert screenshots as well as text.

If anyone has any good speccy trivia questions could they PM them to me. I'm thinking interesting questions that could cover anything from magazines to games to BASIC - just nothing too obscure or technical.

(Not guess the game from the graphic - that's covered)

By the way Mr-Tape, my submission may not be completely finished yet. I omitted an alternate tile set that I'd like to include to add some variety. Also, dya fancy drawing some Christmas themed tiles? Go on, you know you want to ;) (you probably don't).

I'm just putting out another call for good Sinclair trivia questions. Thanks for the ones so far.

I'd like it to be pretty quickfire - so the player shouldn't have to check the web for every question. Good questions are "rrgggh I know this one" types or ones that can be worked out with what most will already know.

If you have a good idea for one that needs a graphic or sound let me know too. I might be able to include it.

(PM please, keep them secret)

Just putting out a last call for stuff. If anyone has any fun/funny/interesting SCREEN$ could they let me know over the next couple of weeks. Have a look at side 2 from last year's Woot for ideas of what I'm after.

Release will be around the middle of December. Standalone submissions that I don't need to do any work can come very close to the deadline.

Many of you will be familiar with Viz's Top Tips (here are some samples if you're not—basically they're very silly, and hopefully equally funny tips).

I'd like Woot to include some Sinclair related ones in the same vein. So if you have an idea for one, or some, please PM me :) (no guarantees I can include everything).

Woot is nearly here! I think it'll be available Sunday or Monday.

One thing—I might not use AY music with the magazine part. Firstly because I don't have a track! But also there are some interludes where the beeper is important, and the flow of the magazine might get disrupted.

I could easily mute the AY of course, so if anyone has an AY track they think would fit the magazine really well, let me know.

I have convinced one of the best current musicians for the spectrum to provide some tunes 😉

Nearly! It's collated and with Einar, he's updating ZXDB, then Peter needs to update SC. It'll be tomorrow now by the looks of it.

Whatever happens it'll be out tomorrow latest one way or another.
