Nodrog's short cryptic crozzy

Post by R-Tape »

My Dad loves crosswords, and knows nothing about the Speccy*, so it's err a perfect opportunity to combine the two. It's not like one of Juan's quizzes in which we guess as we go—I've given all the answers in the spoilers. So if you know the answers and want to discuss avoid making spoilers please. All the answers are Speccy games, most are properly cryptic, 2 are less so IMO.

So if this is your cup of tea, please have a bash and give any comments that I can feed back to the old boy :)

1 - Finish with toggled colours (9,4)
2 - Car goes up on one, becomes older and creates mayhem (7)
3 - Junta in an Inca ballet (5)
4 - Derate stable for changed animal (7,5)
5 - Poor fowl ate in for an animal plan (9,4)
6 - You will broaden these out at sea (8)

Terrible hard.

A sort of 'Mutan Zone' of quizzes...

You've got the hardest ones then. I should point out that 1 and 5 are the least cryptic, if at all. They're more literal than the others.

The first one was easy. For the rest, I need to look up the guide provided by Rorthron to help. But even then I doubt I'll get them :)

I like to think I'd get #1, and maybe #6 and #2 if I was particularly on the ball. There must be a special part of the brain that enlarges when folk do these things every Sunday in the paper.

Had to look up 1 and 5 in the end, just couldn't quite figure them out.

Good clues though. :)

Very cryptic! I only got number 6, but sadly I'm not very good at crosswords anyway. Nice brain teaser though.
