Re: Top 100 ZX Spectrum Games
What if they placed it below Kosmic Kanga?

Those games are both amazing.
There are not 62 better games. (Prove me with)

Re: Top 100 ZX Spectrum Games
I've tried to play the Sentinel so many times.
I've even been told exactly what to do but I still don't know how to play it! I move a cursor around the screen and that's about it. I can't do anything else!

Re: Top 100 ZX Spectrum Games
For me, Movie is marred by its icon control system. I'm not sure why it was necessary to make what could've been simple controls frustratingly difficult to use.
And I'm with RWAC re: The Sentinel - I think I managed to absorb a thing or two, but found it completely confusing and couldn't get off the first level.

I'm glad I'm not a alone!
I couldn't even absorb a single thing!

Re: Top 100 ZX Spectrum Games
You can only absorb stuff in The Sentinel if you can see the square it's standing on. You aim at the floor tile, not the object.
Same with creating a new body to move into. Aim at the floor tile, make a new body, move into it, then turn round and absorb the old one. You can actually pile up as many rocks as you like (if you have the energy) and put a body on top of it high up in the air, and if the Sentinel can't see the square at the bottom, he can't hurt you.
Though I prefer Archipelagos on the ST; similar vibe but real-time movement.

This. Movie would be a lot higher if Dusko hadn't gotten carried away with his icons....Morkin wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 4:49 pm For me, Movie is marred by its icon control system. I'm not sure why it was necessary to make what could've been simple controls frustratingly difficult to use.

...Even if you could switch between icons without the selector highlight swinging about everywhere, that'd be a small improvement...jdanddiet wrote: ↑Wed Oct 21, 2020 8:24 amThis. Re: Top 100 ZX Spectrum Games
Using the gun is one of the most annoying moments in the game because of this.
Re: Top 100 ZX Spectrum Games
Icons, or no icons, Movie is a top ten game.
That is all

...That's coming from someone who enjoyed playing Kosmic ('effing) Kanga, which immediately puts a big question mark over your general state of sanity...

Re: Top 100 ZX Spectrum Games
Rex is a great game and very well designed. I really appreciate it was released as two standalone 48K programs instead of beeing a multiload game. If anything, it feels little slow nowadays.

Not a fan of Breakout. I always found it a bit boring. I'm not sure I've ever played Batty.
Re: Top 100 ZX Spectrum Games
Batty's brill, but you need a friend sitting next to you to blame when it all goes wrong. (In the fab 2-player simultaneous mode).

Wasn't a big fan of Batty.
It was fairly impressive for a covertape game but I just found it far too difficult, was really struggling from screen 2 onwards. Much preferred the Arkanoids. But a lot of people seem to rate it quite highly.
