Hey folks, does anyone have any unwanted ZX Printer paper rolls they want to sell? Or know where I can reliably purchase?

Seems that the aluminium paper is near impossible to find with no modern replacements

Things would have to be getting pretty desperate to use ZX Printer paper as toilet roll.

They won't work with the ZX Printer, as the underlying technologies are different.

On the other hand, they might make slightly better emergency toilet rolls.

Only if you prefer the shiny stuff

The Alphacom is a thermal printer and uses similar technology to fax machines and till printers that also use thermal printers. The printer has thermal heads that heat up when required and the surface of paper turns turns black as a result.

OK shame though, I thought that might be the case. When I bought my Alphacom a few years ago it was for the express reason that the rolls where still widely available as they are the same size and type as existing till rolls used by retail shops. OP good luck in your hunt.

I managed to secure 5 from a seller on ebay out of sheer luck! Think I will be good for all my printing needs for a while.

An yeah for the ZX Printer it can only take aluminium based paper which is specific to the printer. I think the USA Timex version of the printer takes a normal thermal paper as they (sensibly) revised it

Yeah, over here (in Europe), the Timex printer version is known as the Alphacom printer, hence the references to it.
