They were never really my thing, but these are the ones I played & enjoyed:

Horace goes skiiing*
Daley Thompson's decathlon
Frank Bruno's boxing
Chequered flag

I loved the characters in the Daley and Frank games. Was never sure why Bluto managed to become a pro boxer.

*predictive text changed this to Horace goes Skiving!

1. On the Bench - Football Management
2. World Series Baseball
3. Super Soccer
4. Daley Thompsons Decathlon (For nostalgia purposes, Daley Thompsons Super Test 128k was a better game).
5. Match Point

My numer one would be Ping-Pong from Imagine. Incredibly playable with some great beeper tune and cool effect of cheering crowd.

I also like Geoff Capes Strong Man. Probably many people would say that it's nothing special but it's very unique somehow I found clicking on different muscles very entertaining ;)

Winter Games is also very good, with pretty graphics, especially backgrounds.

I read somewhere that F. David Thorpe (author of many great loading screens) was the author of both the loading screen and those backgrounds, not very common these days.

Me too! Back in the day I have no idea about that boring american game. Playing it I could learn most rules of it.
Morkin wrote: Fri Dec 01, 2017 2:00 pm Jonah Barrington's Squash
Great game, but for me it's always been bloody difficult to control the player.

Yep, I think I learned the rules of baseball from playing WSB.

JBS is a bit jerky & sluggish compared to say, Match Point, which is why it doesn't make my top 5, but I quite enjoyed it anyway

  1. Premier League (SU megatape 15)
  2. Nigel Mansell's Grand Prix
  3. Match Point
  4. Supersoccer
  5. Peter Shilton's Handball Maradonna

I really wanted to like Hardball, but I just don't get on with it. It's impossible to play.

This thread has reminded me how much I disliked sport games on the Speccy. Xeno, Match Point and Horace Goes Skiing (hardly counts) are, I think, the only ones I could ever stand.

I especially hated Match Day, but that might be because I can still rember Morkin beating me 96-1! (My goal came from a direct throw.)

1. Match Day 2
2. Footballer of the Year
3. Football Manager
4. Nigel Mansell’s Grand Prix
5. Jet Bike Simulator

I was tempted to include World Games, as I remember playing it a lot, but decided it wasn’t actually good enough to merit a top five place. In fact I don’t think it would make my top ten sports games, so I am not sure why I have such fond memories of it.

1. Kikstart 2 Stone cold classic, lots of life in this thanks to the course designer and the computer player (or 2nd human player, if you so wish).
2. ATV Simulator Pretty damned good.
3. Emlyn Hughes's International Soccer Best football game on the Speccy.
4. WEC Le Mans Astonished at the speed of this, oh, what Out Run could have been.
5. Ivan 'Ironman' Stewart's Super Off Road Pretty magnificent.

So I forgot Xeno, and unforgivably, Bobsleigh. That certainly needs redressing:
  1. Bobsleigh
  2. Xeno
  3. Premier League (SU megatape 15)
  4. Nigel Mansell's Grand Prix
  5. Match Point
Bobsleigh is probably the first sports game that made me more interested in the real thing. Now with the Winter Olympics going on, the sliding events are my favourites... except for 2-man luge, you know, 2 Men 1 Luge, who came up with that one???
