Games that you never stop playing... year after year
Games that you never stop playing... year after year
Hi, alllll!!!!
I'd like to share with you those games that you never stop playing, since you first tried them. Although you play them 2 or 3 or thousands times a year, but never never can resist to leave them
I would begin with EXOLON:
It's an artwork for me, its setting is awsome, exquisite playiablity, and you always want to see what's in the next screen... Excellent!
BOUNDER:
Don't know why, but I always run this game only for taking a while, and not to thinking about anything, it's very entertaining
XENO:
Superb! I could play it for hours trying to win those matches, even there's a 2 human players mode!
And yours?

I'm not sure how to link images so I'm sorry you'll have to make do with the names only but since the 1980's the games I've alway gone back to, time and time again are: (in no order and I'm missing out the most obvious ones like Jetpac/ant attack/Manic Miner)
Cyclone by Vortex Software (imo way way more fun and user friendly than TLL and no two games are the same)
Juggernaut by CRL (a trucking game, yes really)
F1 by CRL (a formula 1 manager game and one of the best I've played on any system)
Warlock of Firetop Mountain by uhm.. I don't know (a superb maze game which looks like Halls of the Things! Can you collect all the keys and get the treasure? unlikely as the Warlock is a killer and travels at warp speed if you disturb him)
Escape from Krakatoa from Abbex (I feel this was their best game, it's really fun and the difficulty curve is just right)
Minder from Dk'Tronics. I might be biased as the TV series Minder is one of my fave TV series of all time but this game is perfect, they could have ruined it and made it some crappy platform game but thankfully Don Priestley worked on it and created a timeless gem of a game. You start with three random things in your 'lockup' and you have 14 days to buy and sell items for as much profit as you can, all while not getting punched in the face or being caught with 'dodgy' (aka stolen) gear. It sounds boring but it's very very addictive to this day.

I'd like so much posts with images, try it like so:
Go to https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.php and write the title of the game and search it. Then right mouse on the image, and choose "Copy image address" (or whatever in your language). Then go to your text box and write this:
Code: Select all

Quazatron - best game
Popeye - also best game
Chuckie Egg (inc. Chuckie Egg 2) - best game
Dynamite Dan II - the best game
Skool Daze - bestest game
Wizards Lair - best game (shhhh, better than Atic Atac)
Jumping Jack - simplicity at its best
My top ten Speccy games of all time would have 27 titles at number 1, 18 at number 2 and consist a total of 142 games. Theres too many.

I don't have anything cool to put here, so i'll just be off now to see a priest with yeast stuck between his teeth and his friend called Keith who's a hairpiece thief...

For those of you enjoying Exolon, I have a bug-fixed version.
Every man should plant a tree, build a house, and write a ZX Spectrum game.
Author of A Yankee in Iraq, a 50 fps shoot-’em-up—the first game to utilize the floating bus on the +2A/+3,
and zasm Z80 Assembler syntax highlighter.

Thank you, Ast A. Moore, but I never realized such a bug, I'll play soon to try it. In which screen could I get to that bug?

Any screen where you walk on a platform that is high enough so that when you are hit by an enemy mid-jump, it causes you to brush the top of the screen.

Re: Games that you never stop playing... year after year
This is the correct answer.
As well as Mr Gollop's offerings, there are some classic games that I occasionally revisit after years and suddenly end up playing them for a long time, e.g. Atic Atac, Manic Miner, Chuckie Egg, Ant Attack.
