Maybe clear your browser cache with the likes of ccleaner?

Most likely the problem is caused by browser's security policy. Some browsers block mixed content by default or by some strict settings: particularly, links with http:// cannot be embedded into https:// webpage in such browsers.

I guess the solution would be for you to invest in a security certificate for your server.

Have you tried using dev tools (F12 in your browser) to see what's happening when it tries to load the images?

I, too, could not see the images, because Edge was blocking them :

You can change the site settings by clicking on the little padlock to the left of the address, opening Site Permissions and changing Insecure Content to 'Allow' ( as opposed to Block ). That's in Edge, your browser may vary but essentially it'll be the same thing.

Now I can see the pictures and the errors in the F12 menu are now just warnings.
This is a terrible idea, I don't recommend it.
