Looks pretty, but yes, the snow kills the browser to zero....
What specification machine have you got MatGubbins? I tested on my Android phone and my Ryzen 7 Desktop before launching?
Cheers

Maaaaan! First I miss the last Frost Fair on the frozen Thames river (1814) and now I miss the snowflakes on here.

Re-enabled via CSS only. No JavaScript so shouldn't cause slowdown. If you really don't like it please return on the 27th when it will be switched off.

Shame you can't turn the mouse icon into a crosshair and then shoot the snowflakes.

There is an.option to have Christmas lights which you smash with your mouse which may be enabled briefly on Christmas day.

I like the snow flakes. Twenty years ago, this was pushing javascript to the max. And now the same language is used to run global banking. Its like the thick kid in class whos now a tax accountant earning more then you.

You are so right bluespikey. It's a language which has really become popular with developers. I'm no expert but I understand you can even build desktop applications with Node.js

Oddly enough, for me the JS version seemed to hog the CPU a lot less.
Not a complaint, though. Totally love the snow!

<SCROOGEMODE>
definitely should be optional. The damn snow resets every time you turn a page. For about 20 seconds it feels like xmas, then it's like having beetles running around the screen.

There are some settings in your control panel. So you can turn off the snowflakes if you want…

What is a shame for those who don't like the distraction is there's no ability to have it present in the header only and not the body, as in the forum header area.
Not complaining. I'm happy with it as is.
