uMia: Kryssy adventure games
I'll be posting here some more interesting titles not present in ZXDB.
So there is a Russian game already present in a database called Sliders:
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.p ... 6&id=17200
Two or three years ago the author of Sliders appeared on zx.pk.ru (main Russian Spectrum site) and revealed that Sliders actually had 3 prequels from late 90ties
See Kryssy, Kryssy 2 and Kryssy 3:
("krysa" means "rat" in Russian, that's why the title)
Theay are technically worse than Sliders but you can see an evolution of author's skill. Unfortunately they are in Russian which may be a problem for English speakers.
The download:
https://www.sendspace.com/file/dc1xac
I may prepare a more detailed info if required.

Re: uMia: Kryssy adventure games
Спасибо Ralf. They all make 8 pixel movements look good but it seems the main thing to improve each time is the front end!
It's funny you mention, I'm determined to do some translations when I release my next game, Kryssy might be a good way of learning...
Re: uMia: Kryssy adventure games
Some info for the database
These games were not published, maybe only a few author's friends saw it before 2015
Here's the thread at Russian site, you can read it with Google Translate or at least watch the pics:
http://zx-pk.ru/threads/25045-kryssy-adventures.html
And it looks that these game have entries on some other Russian Spectrum site where you can get both .trd and .tzx files:
http://viva-games.ru/game/kryssy
http://viva-games.ru/game/kryssy-2
http://viva-games.ru/game/kryssy-3
The author is: Alexei Haidukov (Алексей Хайдуков)
http://viva-games.ru/avtor/radiotehnika-microgame
When writing this game, the author used "company label" Radiotehnika (actually he says he started writing the 1st game being only 12 years old )
By the way, it seems that Sliders (already present in database) has wrong author. Currently it is "MSG Group". As I understood it was some electronic magazine that released this game as attachment. But run Sliders and you will see "Radiotehnika proudly present"
Years of release:
Kryssy: 1993
Kryssy: 1994
Kryssy3: 1995
There are more uMIA games made by him, I'll deal with them later.

Re: uMia: Kryssy adventure games
Thanks Ralf that's fantastic. Is it possible to download files from that site? I only seem able to link to online play.
Re: uMia: Kryssy adventure games
Well, it looks there is no easy and obvious way to download the files.
I'll see what I can do.

Re: uMia: Kryssy adventure games
Do you prepare RZXs for these games, Rafal? I would like to map them if they are completable.
Re: uMia: Kryssy adventure games
I'd just like some help to get past the first obstacle on Kryssy 1. I keep getting crushed!
[Ignorant Englishman]
I've put the cauldron on the fire, but can't get google to make sense of the other items apart from the cheese. Some help with what each item is would be nice.

Re: uMia: Kryssy adventure games
I'd like to but don't know if I'll make it They don't have any solutions available.Do you prepare RZXs for these games, Rafal? I would like to map them if they are completable.

Re: uMia: Kryssy adventure games
I believe you!
Re: uMia: Kryssy adventure games
I have some good news, Pavel
I spent today some time with Kryssy. I cheated a bit - examined texts in the game and at one moment even used debugger. But here is the result - the first part is completed !
https://www.sendspace.com/file/2jt9hc
I'll check the next parts but don't know if they will be easier or harder to complete.

Re: uMia: Kryssy adventure games
Double posting. R-Tape, I hope you'll notice that
I saved all games from Nostalgie as snapshots. Maybe it would be a good idea to make separate entries for each of them? Please decide.
For Garden Zone I added autobooting to .trd image
The download:
https://www.sendspace.com/file/l45duu
And here are game images and screenshots for Nostalgie and another game from Alexei - Garden Zone.I added "Nostalgie" after looking through Epsilon's page on that Russian site, I should have waited until you gave more info before I gave it an ID. Any screenshots & info you can give (either by email or in the old/new game thread) would be splendid.

Re: uMia: Kryssy adventure games
Thanks Ralf, I agree they should have separate IDs.
Even his earliest efforts are excellent.
Alexei has commented that these were originally written for the "Юнга" and ported to the Speccy. I want to include this as a comment, does anyone know the best way to describe this in English? Jung or Yung? What will people recognise?
Re: uMia: Kryssy adventure games
I suppose this computer was completely unknown beyond Russian speaking world so you won't find how it is called in English anywhere.Jung or Yung? What will people recognise?
I would go with Yunga. This way it is sounds like the Russian word which begins like in "yummy" and not like in "jungle".
On the other hand I checked and "Юнга" is a common world and means a "young sailor". It comes from German "Junge" - a boy:
https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%AE%D0 ... %B8%D1%8F)
If will be allright it you go both with Yunga and Junga I guess.
Re: uMia: Kryssy adventure games
Cheers, it seems this computer has no Wiki page or anything to link to (?)
Re: uMia: Kryssy adventure games
They write here that Yunga is a rare clone of better known computer called Specialist:
http://www.nedopc.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9299
And this Specialist has a Wikipedia page, even in English:

Can you please translate the names of these objects?
Re: uMia: Kryssy adventure games
Sure! Can you please translate the names of these objects?
(By the way, expect recording of Kryssy 2 later today )
1. Piece of cheese
2. Rope ladder
3. Soft shoes
(Exact translation: felt shoes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Felt You need to have both these shoes and shoelaces to pass silently and safely under
a crusher at one of first screens)
4. Little empty cauldron
5. Shoelaces
6. Iron staple
7. Magic crystal (rather useless but can be exanged like any object for cheese at mouse trap, taking cheese without item exchange means death)
8. Crust (piece of bread)
9. Bottle of milk
10. Office stamp
11. Small key
12. Knife
13. Big scroll (of paper)
14. Camphor oil (or something like that )
At one moment there is a very weird puzzle that most people wouldnt create even after drugs You have a scroll of paper. You use a stamp to print a door on this scroll. Then you use a knife to cut through scroll and open the door this way. Then you you can go through this door (by using the item) and teleport to another location It can be done at any place
Re: uMia: Kryssy adventure games
Isn't 15 - Ancient Potion?
(edit - 14 > 15 sorry I meant 'the last one')
(edit - 14 > 15 sorry I meant 'the last one')
Re: uMia: Kryssy adventure games
I don't understand the second puzzle, why does having the boots and shoelaces stop you getting crushed?!
Re: uMia: Kryssy adventure games
Thanks R-Tape, I missed the last item.
...
14. Camphor oil
15. Ancient potion
By the way, the game story goes something like that:
Ther was a great and happy civilisation of mouse and rats. But one day the Evil God (never seen in the game) decided to destroy it (probably just for fun and out of boredom ) He build a machine of time and send most mice through it in unknown direction. Kryssy is one of the few survivors and must destroy the machine (seen in final location).
Not the best story probably, but let's be honest, Dizzy stores about evil wizard Zak constantly harassing Dizzy and his friends aren't much better and deeper

Re: uMia: Kryssy adventure games
Probably the crusher is sound activated and by walking in boots made of soft material you don't make noise on the floorI don't understand the second puzzle, why does having the boots and shoelaces stop you getting crushed?!
And shoelaces? Well, walking in boots without shoelaces makes you probably more clumsy and making more noise
But yes, as I wrote above Kryssy games seem to have it's dose of weirdness.
Re: uMia: Kryssy adventure games
Kryssy 2 completed! It went faster than expected:
https://www.sendspace.com/file/ib4kdb
In the first game part Kryssy destroys a time machine built by the Evil God. Now Evil God takes revenge and sends big stormy clouds over mice kingdom to destroy it effectively this time.
Of course Kryssy has to prevent it by placing 5 lighting rods in proper places and fixing a computer which controls them (these are probably some advanced lighting rods, unlike the ones which we use in real life). On his path he'll have to build a bridge from bricks (like in first part), drop a soap on a floor so a guard slips and faints, use a repair robot, cast some spells, feed dog with bread and do many other stuff to complete his quest.
A new thing are items hidden behind terrain, like coins in Dizzy.
