Winner of the CSCCGC 1991, I believe. The winner was awarded a cash prize that sadly couldn't be traced.

I just never got on with the Dynamite Dan games, although I can see their obvious appeal.

1. Spitfire 40 - Played this a lot back in the day. It's not the most realistic sim but the dogfights get pretty hectic.
2. Tetris - Not the best version the Spectrum has seen by a long way, but still pretty good fun.
3. Moon Strike - A pretty graphic shooter.

Tetris ought to have been top if they had done more than the absolute bare minimum.
The Mirrosoft Tetris actually inspired me to write my own version (now sadly lost to the mists of time) to address its shortcomings.

Problem with Tetris is that there is Tetris 2 which is much much better implementation.

I'm fine with them doing the minimum, because I remember reading in a multi-format mag that the Spectrum version outshines the 16-bit versions due to them having unnecessary animated background graphics, which isn't what you need when concentrating on slotting a block into the right space.

Sometimes less is more.

My vote went straight to Tetris, no question!

My biggest complaint was that the dark blue pieces were dificult to see quickly on a lot of screens of the day, especially if next to much brighter pieces.
It lacked the slow drop, so if you wanted to tuck a piece in you had to wait for it to fall slowly all the way down.
The target lines to to clear a level and puzzle features of the Atari arcade version would have been good inclusions - that was my favourite version and I integrated those features in the version I created.

1-DD 2
2-Mean Streak
3-Terror Of The Deep

I remember playing that 3, they appeared in Microhobby covertapes, nice games, DD2 is to me far better than DD 1.

Edit: Mean Streak appeared only as demo, iirc.

Well, having got Caesar the Car into the list, it’d be rude not to vote!

Dynamite Dan II has been very popular, winning this poll with an almighty 17 votes.

A distant second is the game's prequel, Dynamite Dan - 5 votes.

Joint third, with 3 votes: Caesar The Cat (the 'educational' title that was well argued for its inclusion here); Sai Combat and my personal favourite, Tetris (the game that's been officially ported to more platforms than any other).

Fourth is Zythum, with 2 votes.

Finally, in joint fifth place, 1 vote each: Action Flex; Ashkeron!; Mean Streak and Spitfire 40.

And here are the proportional results:

Dynamite Dan II 30
Tetris 13
Dynamite Dan 11
Sai Combat 5
Zythum 4
Spitfire 40 3
Mean Streak 2
Moon Strike 2
Action Flex 1
Terror Of The Deep 1
