Raspberry Pi SpecDeck

Post by PeterJ »

Interesting feature in this month's Raspberry Pi magazine:
Make your own SpecDeck. Load programs to an original Spectrum computer by playing audio files with an audio HAT.

You can also learn how to program a Gameboy game in C.

With the OLED you can display the cassette inlays of the files ;)

That's great @Tiger!

Have you built it? Is the scale of the display correct?

Yes - I build it as described in the MagPi Issue 118, page 48. It is simple to fit a Raspberry Zero with the Pirate Audio Hat. I used Photoshop Elements to reduce the size of screen-jpg's. With PiShare it is simple to transfer the files via WiFi from Win10-PC to the Pi. It is possible to use the full screen of the OLED, but also smaller picture look good, I think:

the problem is, that the Raspberry Zero's are out of stock - but I think the PirateAudio also fits on a "normal" Raspberry...

I just checked the pi Zero prices on ebay. My gast took some flabbering.

I have a W in the shed but it has no pins

I really want one of these for my speccies, so I guess I will be taking my chances soldering the header.
