It's Frank the Flea. I remember it because I used to flick through the issue of Crash where they gave it a "friendly" review as the author was very young and wanted to save up money for a Basic compiler to speed up his games.

Was it Snowflounce, for the unexpanded ZX81, where you leap from one snowflake (represented by an asterisk '*') to another snowflake (represented by an asterisk '*') whilst decrying the abject snowflakeyness of each one, while the player is - surprisingly, some may say; prescient, say I - represented as an asterisk '*'. :lol:

That's the one.

I did just try it and it's actually quite decent for what it is. A type in version, with simpler graphics to keep the size reasonable, would have been ace.
