Lol... part lucky guess but also part that how many other ZX Spectrum games use green, white and black in such close formation? For whatever reason, I played Grand National lots back then. I guess because it was kinda unusual. Anyway, here's the next:

Aye, the music sure was grating. I couldn't say for certain but I'm pretty sure I got this far. I don't remember the game being all that difficult -- just a slog. But when you're 13/14 and with endless free time, I guess one had time for grinding. My teenage boys sure seem to!

2nd car was my limit - I was too impatient to wait for the correct timings, and I never got the hang of the sloppy jumping and imprecise collision detection.

I suppose you could turn the music off, but that's cheating really. The in-game tune playing is an insta-'Hard Mode' TBH...

Wahay..! It did make me think of Joe Blade but that's monochrome, whereas GB has a different colour floor character.
