Can notes be added.
Could someone please check if there are any actual differences (besides the loading screen title obviously)?

If they are absolutely identical, then I will merge both entries.

If there's any (small) difference, then I will add a note to point it out.

The ZX81 title Game of life belongs to the CSSCGC Crap Games Competition 2013. The .P file is already in the archive for CSCGC

Einar Saukas wrote: Tue Mar 02, 2021 5:07 pm On a related note, SC site didn't show a distinction between a company "founded" by another, and a company derived ("renamed") from another. I have just fixed it.

However this is the only part of the data that I originally imported from internal WoS files, that seemed confusing. According to old WoS, The Power House became Alpha-Omega Software that became Omega Software Ltd, instead of the opposite. Therefore it's possible other relations are inverted too. Here's the full list of "renaming" information provided by old WoS, if anyone notices anything wrong please let me know:
They're all the wrong way round, eg Spectrum Games was renamed to Ocean, Richard Wilcox Software was renamed to Elite, Tehkan was renamed to Tecmo etc.

apart from:
A'n'F and MC Lothlorien owned Icon Design, they didn't become them.

Despite what Mobygames says, ODE still exist and David Pringle is still the director (and he was also director of Empire Interactive from 2000-2006)

The correct title for 35698 is 'ferengi', as displayed on the screenshot.

The Empire Fights Back https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/1 ... ights_Back is listed as Arcade: Shoot-Em-Up, whereas there is literally no shooting in the game. It's more like a Maze game.

The title screen of Killed Until Dead has the following credits:

Design: M Bate & R Banks
Code: Ste Ward
Sound: Ste Ward
Graphics: Neil Ward

Looking at the TZX in a hex editor reveals the following:
Spectrum conversion by Steve Ward
also Amstrad to follow.
To whom it may concern,
There was no room in the program so I had to
put this here.
Short history follows...
(Musical Interlude..)
87, "The Wall?" (Commodore & ST versions?)
87, Speccy & Amstrad "Killed Until Dead"
86, Speccy & Amstrad "Silent Service"
86, Speccy, Amstrad & Commodore "Mission Omega"
85, Speccy, "Nick Faldo's Golf"
85, Speccy+part Commodore "Give My Regards to Broadstreet"
84, Speccy "Cloak of Death" (who?)
84, Dragon "Pedro" Yeah!
84, Dragon "Android Invaders"
84, Dragon "Picture Puzzles"
Not bad for an 'unknown' eh?
Since Mission Omega is credited to Stephen Ward I think Killed Until Dead (and the other games above) could therefore be credited to him as well.

Lemon 64 credits the design of Killed Until Dead to Michael Bate and Rick Banks, along with these games which they could have their credit added to:

Michael Bate
Ace of Aces
* Fight Night (Lemon 64 link)

Rick Banks
Ace of Aces
* Apollo 18: Mission to the Moon (along with Paul Butler)
* BC II: Grog's Revenge (Lemon 64 link)
The Dam Busters (along with Steve Armstrong and J. Stuart Easterbrook)
The Train: Escape to Normandy (along with Paul Butler)

I've marked with an *asterisk the ones where the Spectrum version was never released. The pages for Fight Night and BC II don't have links to the C64 version so I've added them above. Where I've added an "along with..." credit, that means they aren't credited on any other games listed in ZXDB.

The Bounty Hunter (Codemasters, #9315)

According to the instructions:

Design & Coding Optimus Software
Graphics Adrian Ludley
Music Lyndon Sharp
Project Manager Tim Miller
Production Stew Regan/Shan Savage
Illustration Rod Walker

According to ZXDB, the creators are Ludley, Sharp and Jason Falcus.

I just uploaded Walker as the cover artist with the new tool. And the creators should be: Ludley, Sharp & Optimus Software. I mean, adding Optimus and removing Jason Falcus.

What do you think?

AFAIK 3D Defender was never re-released by Ciberne as standalone game. It was only released as part of the Defensor 3D compilation.

Therefore Ciberne shouldn't be listed as both (re-release and compilation).

Icicle Works has the Commodore Plus/4 version in "Other platforms", but doesn't have the Commodore 64 or MSX versions linked.

Also, Software Star has its "Original Price" listed as £8.95, but in both adverts the ZX Spectrum version is clearly listed at £6.95 (with the C64 and Amstrad versions at £7.95).

Found a misplaced file. On the Chess the Turk page this file:

Chess-TheTurk(different).tzx.zip

is not Chess the Turk, but a copy of:

+80 Finance Manager - Alternate

also from OCP

This Alternate version of +80 is already online :)

Tumler 5451 was released by ZX Data (not Viking Software). Viking Software wrote it, so has been added as author using the tool.

These are utilities and demos about border effects:

https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/1 ... order_Demo

https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/2 ... ultiborder

However their screenshots from old WoS only show a blank screen without the border :)

About this game:

https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/3 ... n_128/Mine

The screenshot seems to be an opening screen, but the file is named like a loading screen, and it's classified as running screen.

Which one is correct?

For those that want to have a fully linked ZXDB to the WOS files ZXBD, please download the ZIP that I created, unzip it, and move all the files to your local copy of the "World of Spectrum June 2017 Mirror" files.

All files in this zip have the ZXDB correct directory structure.

The file is here: https://mega.nz/file/aiY03b5Z#wAoGYbH3Z ... iTJ2CAUYus

ALL FILES are the WOS original files, moved to the correct path that's inside the latest ZXDB database.

You already have some of them on the original "World of Spectrum June 2017 Mirror" but on diferent directories.

Regarding the "AI and the Attributes" series (1, 2 and 3):
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/3 ... Attributes
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/3 ... tributes_2
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/3 ... tributes_3
I've used the Preservation tools to upload the (ugly) missing loading screen (for the 1st one) and added the release year(s) for all of them based on the copyright messages shown.

Now for the harder issues:
The games are not called "AI and the Attributes" but "AL and the Attributes" instead.
This is clearly visible both on the loading and running screens.

(Almost) all their screenshots are mashed up on the 3rd one:
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/zxdb/si ... -run-1.scr is another running screen for the 1st one (it has a slightly different one, already).
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/zxdb/si ... load-1.scr is the loading screen for the 2nd one.
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/zxdb/si ... -run-2.scr is the running screen for the 2nd one.

So the correct screens for the 3rd one are the remaining ones:
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/zxdb/si ... load-2.scr (loading)
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/zxdb/si ... -run-3.scr (running)

Snookered

This was first released as "Break Point" and advertised by Airline Software in Crash 1987 Christmas Special. The Top Ten release as "Snookered" was reviewed in August/September 1988 so that version is re-release #1. The loading screen of the Crash cover tape version, Snookered(BreakPoint)(Crash) is the same loading screen as from the original Airline release.

Rad (UK)

This is Softek's second budget label after The Micro Selection so the founder should be Softek International and the owner should be Edge Games Inc.

The C&VG reviews of Alien Syndrome and Soldier of Light both say it is The Edge's new budget label and they date from late 1989 which means the 1988 font utility Gen was definitely not released by the same RAD.
