The latest ZXDB update will be applied this evening at 1800 BST. The update takes around 30 minutes, and the site goes down whilst this happens.

Screen Compressor

Whether it's Mire Mare or a BASIC tape you found in the attic, it needs to be preserved digitally. Post here and experts can help to do so.

Do we have a competitor for ZX0 on our hands? :mrgreen:

Any chance Mario can let us know a bit more about the tape? I assume it's a home-taped cassette without inlay?

There doesn't seem to be anything in the archive already that is the similar, but there's something wrong here. Unless I'm missing something it doesn't work: option "T" requires a SCREEN$ to be loaded, then it activates a machine code routine at 28010, but there's nothing at that address and it crashes. Maybe there's another block or supplementary cassette missing?

Yes, it was an home made (c90) tape. And the program had no more blocks....

I can't find anything with the same menu options, in fact it appears to have more functionality than most screen compressors in the DB. So regardless of whether it's the original program or not it should have an ID.

It's just a shame it doesn't work! It might be an unfinished project, but I find it hard to imagine someone doing so much on the front end without having some sort of screen compressor to back it up. Something's missing though - I've made an ID for this and hopefully more info will come to light in future.

EDIT - removed as per the rest of the thread DH 04/10/23

I suspect it is Portuguese (most probably) or Polish. Because of FDD option...

Part of Artist tape pack I think.

I have a 'home modified' one I use for my own things. It looks identical (or it did before I butchered it to suit my needs)

Well done that man. Yep it's The Artist. I might be too late, but I'll see if I can get it deleted before the imminent update.

@pavero

It's row #003202 in Pav's tool, ID 42525. I've removed the two files I added associated with it.

Preservation is a bit of a minefield isn't it?!

Nothing to apologise for Andre. It might well have been something new - the system (mostly) works!
