I have two rubber keyed spectrums. On one hardly any of my games load from tape. I hear the noises but most games don't display the yellow and blue loading stripes.
The other spectrum loads most games first or second time.
Does anyone know why this is?
I think I heard that one revision doesn't need so much volume on the tape recorder but my tape recorder needs the volume turned down low to load anything.
Loading from tape easier on some models?

Re: Loading from tape easier on some models?
The early ULA chips (issue one and issue two boards) had a slightly different input threshold compared to the later ULA chips.
The issue one and issue two boards also did not use a transistor for the speaker, but issue 3 and later boards do use a transistor to feed the speaker.
But to be honest, these changes are not likely to be the problem. Even between the same issue boards, there may be a slight variation to the volume needed to LOAD.
Will the machine LOAD it's own recordings?

Step up to red alert. Sir, are you absolutely sure? It does mean changing the bulb
Looking forward to summer later in the year.
