Earlier this evening, I've opened my Next (properly, as in, opened all the boxes), started it up, and it's all looking promising. It loads from tape, it loads NextBASIC from the SD card, I've discovered the NMI menu, and I've got a PS-2 mouse kicking around somewhere to plug into it if I want.
About 13-14 hours from now, I will (hopefully) be introducing my brother (aged 41) and my nephew (aged 4¾) to a completely different activity which I've been getting good* at over these past five months, neatly explaining why I've been slightly less active here than usual.
Didn't see that coming, did you? Life's strange like that.
* i.e. better than 99% of the general population, rather than just 80-90%.
