Wasn't there someone collating a database on serial numbers, models, ULA date codes etc.? I searched here but couldn't find anything. I came across this website: https://serials.spectrumforeveryone.com/, but there doesn't seem to be a way of submitting information or contacting anyone, and I don't want to create a facebook account.
I've got a couple of spectrums to add, that's all.

Step up to red alert. Sir, are you absolutely sure? It does mean changing the bulb
Looking forward to summer later in the year.

Re: Serial Number Database
I built that serial database one afternoon in the pub about five years ago, and ever since then I've been meaning to update it so that it's a bit more user-friendly and people can add their own serial.
Maybe this will give me the impetus to spend another afternoon in the pub doing it!
In the meantime, please can you send any serial number info you have to [email protected] and I'll add it by hand?
Thanks

Re: Serial Number Database
You might very well think that; I couldn't possibly comment...
Oooh, it would be nice if it could be improvedadam wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 1:38 pm I built that serial database one afternoon in the pub about five years ago, and ever since then I've been meaning to update it so that it's a bit more user-friendly and people can add their own serial.

Especially if new entries can include the board part number (for Amstrad made boards) and board issue or version number, 4 digit date codes for the Modulator, ULA and Z80, plus Z80 manufacturer/make.
A good template would be:
Code: Select all
Model: [xxxxxxxxxxxx]
Serial : [xxxxxxxxxxxx] [ colour ]
PCB Part No. [xxxxxxxx] PCB Issue No. [xxxx]
ULA : [5C012E 5C112E 6C001E-6 6C001E-7] [Datecode]
CPU : [Zilog / NEC / Sharp] [ProductCode] [Datecode]
ROM : [Hitachi / NEC / other] [Datecode]
DRAM : [ProductCode] [Datecode]
Modulator : [Datecode]
Code: Select all
Model: ZX Spectrum 48K rubber key
Serial : 001-62176 white
PCB Part No. PCB Issue No. 2
ULA : 5C102E 8217
CPU : NEC NECD780C-1 8208
ROM : Hitachi 8213
DRAM : MM5290N-2 8206, 8137, 8204
Modulator : 8216
If I know it's a live project, I'll provide details of my own machines.
Mark

Re: Serial Number Database
Happy to take any feedback or suggestions on board.
Please don't get too excited or hold your breath - I'm notoriously flaky when it comes to these types of projects and it literally requires me to smash it out in a few sittings before I become bored of them!
