Spent ages trying to fix a sound bug and it seems ZXSpin doesn't play sounds that use the ROM Beeper function, including BEEP in basic. Any game I run, such as Atic Atac has full sound.
Anyone experienced this or know what the problem is? Looking at the ROM code for Beeper is has an out(254),8 to 'turn off the mic'. I wonder if that's something to do with it? How strange.

What version of ZXSpin are you using? Speccy machine you are emulating?
Possibly a corrupt ROM image?
ZX Spin works fine for me, version 07s. Sometimes I have had to delete the .ini files and/or re-download it for it to work (but nothing sound related).

I've always had this problem with ZX Spin too, in version 0.666, though I've noticed that the ROM beep works when you emulate a 128K Spectrum.

I'm using .666. I just tried 128k mode and beeps all work fine so must be the 48k rom image. I'll try redownloading.

Yep, I've been using .666 for yonks and the ROM BEEPer has never worked if you switch to the 48k model.
OUT is fine so machine code games that use it (even it it sounds beep-y!) are usually OK.

I modded the 48k rom in .666 to not out the mic bit (#3d0 changed byte from 8 to 0) and beeps started working.
I'll just get 0.7 though if it's been fixed properly.

0.7 is a bit buggy. .666 is probably the more stable.
Wish I'd realised there was a quick fix on .666 for this issue about 10 years ago.. But thanks for figuring it out and sharing.
