Double entry found

Post by NPI »

This is the same game:

Ashley Greenup / Dee-Kay Systems seems to be the same person/seller. They developed train and signaling simulations.

Thanks for the post @NPI. (thread moved to ZXDB fixes)

It's highly likely they are the same game. Just a pause for thought before deleting—I wonder if the Ashley Greenup one has an entry because it's different in some way. @Einar Saukas @druellan do we know how and when each entry got into the DB?

Dee-Kay Systems looks to be owned by D.V.Howell and K. Ewins, and of their published games, the venerable Ashley Greenup is named on Anglia Rover, Class 50 Fleet Manager, and RTC Crewe.

God speed to anyone daring to brave Storm Isha on a train today.

Hi!
I'm pretty sure Ashley Greenup is the author and Dee-Kay the publisher of the first entry, they both worked in very similar titles like https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/1 ... /RTC_Crewe

The second entry must be the same software, but self-published by Greenup. There is an Amstrad CPC version that has no mention of Dee-Kay and looks like it is the same software https://www.cpc-power.com/index.php?pag ... l&num=3610, also, presentation matches other self-published titles by Ashley Greenup https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/1 ... sbury_Park so, pretty sure this is the CPC verison of the missing software.

So, in the case of the Dee-Kay published software, we can add Ashley Greenup as the author.
On the Ashley Greenup entry, we can add the Amstrad CPC version, Spectrum version is sadly still MIA.
We are not 100% sure about which software was derived from which, but we can add notes stating that they both looks like the same software with some changes.

EDIT: forgot to mention, about the software derivation information, the Dee-Kay version has no date, but the Commodore 64 site says 1988, and the Ashley Greenup CPC version states 1989 in the screenshoot, so, looks like the Dee-Kay version was first, but of course, we can't trust 100% these values.

Not entirely relevant, but still interesting:
These two BASIC programs are definitely different.
SkoolKit - disassemble a game today
Pyskool - a remake of Skool Daze and Back to Skool

Yeah, I can foresee a lot of confusion based on the naming. The Commodore 64 version for the Ashley Greenup release, for example, is wrong, it is the Dee-Kay version, also, bbcmicro.co.uk has Ashely Greenup as the author for the Dee-kay version.
