Keyboard faceplate question

I feel a little silly asking this when all the other topics here are about much more technical issues, but here goes:

I bought a replacement keyboard faceplate for my rubber key 48k and I am having the hardest time getting it to stick down properly with double sided tape. It always pops up around the edges and sometimes the keys get snagged when I’m typing. Any suggestions or tips? I know they originally were manufactured with some type of glue adhesive, but that seems kind of messy.

Both the plastic case and the metal faceplate must be totally clean of any previous glue or adhesive. So clean until all traces have been removed.

Use really good quality double sided tape. And apply it around all the edges where you can fit it.

But before sticking it down, do a "dry" fit first. As you may need to very slightly (and very carefully) bend it slightly. So that the tape is not fighting the springiness of the metal.
