Joefish wrote: Mon Mar 04, 2024 10:40 am Tough choice between Space Harrier and Commando. Back then I was all over Space Harrier, but now I've got a dozen different and better ways to play it. But as for Commando, I'd rather play the Speccy version than the arcade, as I think it's actually the better game.

Afterburner and Galaxy Force are fast and technically impressive, but they were both silly, uncontrollable games in the arcade in the first place. And Ghosts'N Goblins again uses some impressive technical tricks, but the actual graphics are rougher than Leeds at closing time.
My feelings exactly, but with exception that I'd never seen Ghosts'N Goblins before and was unaware of the game story.
I played it first on the spectrum and to me it was a zombie/undead themed game by the looks of the game screen.
It oozed atmosphere and was a scary one allright.

I couldn't decide between Marauder and Commando so gave my vote to the underdog.

I'd go Ghosts 'n Goblins in third, but leaving it out is the only way I have of repaying the years of joystick-smashing frustration those two bloody Ghosts games have given me (on all platforms). So, up yours zombies.. it's Afterburner.
