You've got seven days to muse over that Ghosts N Goblins screenshot and decide whether its awfulness is a factor in how you vote for that game. Oh and there are some others as well...

A tough choice:
1: Commando - best of the bunch.
2: Missile Defence - I played this for years on emulation. Loved it.
3: Ghost N Goblins and Gilligans Gold - It's a tie!

1- Ghosts and Goblins. One of the small collection of games I actually purchased ( :!: :!: ) . Spent many happy hours playing this but only ever managed to get to the end of the second level.

2 - Marauder. Hard as nails but an absolutely brilliant arcade shooter. Brilliant menu and in-game music on the 128.

3 - Commando. Easily one of the best arcade conversions on the Speccy.

I don't have anything cool to put here, so i'll just be off now to see a priest with yeast stuck between his teeth and his friend called Keith who's a hairpiece thief...

1 - Commando
2 - Marauder
3 - Gilligan's Gold

I feel like I'm being a bit vanilla in my genre choices here, but these are the ones I enjoyed the most. Gilligan's Gold has its flaws and could have been so much better*, so Afterburner or Space Harrier nearly bumped it off, but the amount of time I chose to play it has to count for something.

@Jbizzel @clebin reckon we'll see a remake? :dance

Based on what I've played:

1. Commando
2. Marauder
3. Ghosts 'n' Goblins

Some of the other choices makes me think I should play more of these entries.

It's honorable mentions all round when it comes to technical merit, but some of those other games are just too tough to be fun; I'm looking at you, Marauder and Ghosts n' Goblins.

The thing is, the original arcade incarnation of Ghosts N Goblins was always tough, so I guess it's a case of being faithful to the source material. Although sometimes, it'd be nice to ease up on the difficulty.

1. Commando

3. Marauder

Commando is almost perfect.
Ghosts n Goblins is great, but so so hard, expecially the 4-way scrolling on level 2. Missing most of the levels isn't really a detriment, as can never get that far, anyway!
I enjoy Marauder, but it has flaws. The main challenge comes from the bad collision detection. The temptation to farm lives and smart bombs at the start of the game is high, too - removing the first two bonus pods would be better, I feel.

Tough choice between Space Harrier and Commando. Back then I was all over Space Harrier, but now I've got a dozen different and better ways to play it. But as for Commando, I'd rather play the Speccy version than the arcade, as I think it's actually the better game.

Afterburner and Galaxy Force are fast and technically impressive, but they were both silly, uncontrollable games in the arcade in the first place. And Ghosts'N Goblins again uses some impressive technical tricks, but the actual graphics are rougher than Leeds at closing time.

I played Gilligan's Gold a lot. Not sure it was good though. It was bastardy hard.

I picked MD second hoping it was the version I used to play. I think it was.

Commando was a good conversion but very repetitive.

1. Marauder - spent many an hour on this, and imho THE best tunes on a 128, both title and main game tunes
2. Commando - perfection of an arcade conversion
3. Gilligans Gold - always enjoy playing it, but find it one of the toughest games i've ever come across
