My upload tests

As promised, I'll try to upload some stuff to Spectrum Computing using new upload feature. For my convenience I'll keep my comments in this new thread :)

So as first I tried to upload a uMIA Russian snake clone called Boa

As "mininum model" I marked Pentagon 128. Would it be correct for Tr-Dos games?

Clicking "save" and ooops: Invalid file format .scl . No way, it's very valid Spectrum format ;)

I packed it as .zip and the upload worked.

And now my question - did you receive the file? Did I fill the fields correctly? Something could be improved on my side?

Oh, and here goes the upload link:

Cheers Ralf,

Tricky. TRD is not specific to the Pentagon, so technically if it happens to work on a +3 then that is the minimum model; But a Russian TRD games are written with the clones in mind, so it feels a bit wrong to say that.

Any thoughts Einar Saukas?

I can't check now, but in this case does Boa work on a +3? If not then it's an easy choice!

Sounds like the SCL thing needs fixing.

I got the files ta. Works great. Filled in nicely. If you could include screenshots next time then even better (you can attach more than one file per edit). Though a zipped bundle would be fine - I often have to unzip stuff and rename anyway.

Thanks Ralf

Zipping files is probably the easiest method, then we don't have code the allowance of loads of file types.

If people find bugs it's probably best to stick to the original thread to make sure Mike Davies sees them.

Thank you so much for testing. It's much appreciated.

Actually, the +2A/+3 are the only machines that TR-DOS won’t run on simply because the Beta Disk interface doesn’t play ball with them (the good-old ROMCS vs. OE thing on the edge connector). The other Spectrums will be happy to run TR-DOS games, provided the games don’t relying on any other hardware-specific features. So, technically, the minimum requirement is, well, a Beta Disk interface.

I just tested this SCL on both a 48K Speccy and a 128K with a Beta Disk attached and it worked fine.

New uploads:

--------------------------------------
EAN 13:
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/edit/en ... 27a3f2897d

.SCL stil is shown as wrong file format.
I included .scr screens this time. Are they uploaded correcly?

By the way, if I type https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/edit in browser the link is wrong, it must by https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/edit/ with last /. Doesn't seem intuitive.

-----------------------------------
Fractions:
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/edit/en ... 27fbcadd4e

No field for alternative name, in this case the original Russian name "Drobi"

The author is existing in database but the name prompting doesn't work:

Nikolas Welichutin (Russia)
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/index.p ... l_id=10395

I tried typing "nikolas", "welichutin" and nothing. You have to write the full exact name.

By the way when I click "Add another file" all forms scrolls to top and I have to scroll it all the way back down. Quite annoying.

More uploads:

------------------------------
Luxecopy:
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/edit/en ... 2d54c3131c

Trd is also recognized as "invalid file format". To be corrected ;)

------------------------------
Pencraft Copier
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/edit/en ... 2d7247e4e4

Did it uploaded correctly?

When I click "download" for the first file I get:
Not Found
The requested URL /edits/entry/zxdb5c02d7247e4e4/PencraftCopier.zip was not found on this server.
Apache/2.4.18 (Ubuntu) Server at spectrumcomputing.co.uk Port 443

----------------------------
Katalog 2
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/edit/en ... 2d98b5cc73

Upload goes correctly.

IS-Copy

No new issues

Strange. From your two new posts, I can only get the .SCL and .TRD for Ean-13 and LuxeCopy, but not the .scr.

For these ^cases^ put everything in one .zip bundle: game, screens, text etc. It's more likely to work, and easier for me.

I can't get anything from the other IDs.

I have no idea what's happened ^here^!

Okay, so the lesson for me is not to use multiple file attachments and just upload one .zip file. At least for now.

Actually it will be faster for me too :) I'll correct my uploads tomorrow.

Probably safest, but Pav's files had multiple uploads and they worked :?

I reuploaded the files from yesterday, this time packed into single .zip. Please have them look if they are present on server.

By the way, what happens if I upload two files with the same name? Will one of them overwrite another?
I'm asking as you cannot delete uploaded file or upload it again if you made a mistake. Seems that you can only upload it as a new file.

And here are some more new titles for database:
-------------------
Screen printer:
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/edit/en ... 3eb181a044
------------------
PCX Converter 128:
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/edit/en ... 3ebbb6aab9

this time I added info about hte publisher, please check if it works)
---------------
PCX Show
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/edit/en ... 3ed063cd24

Is everything okay with new uploads?

I ahve a bit of free time today so I'll send them more:

-----------------------
MPPS:
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/edit/en ... 430131b2b3

and here it is not MIA but alternate version (rerelease? ) for software existing in the database. I hope I typed everything correctly
----------------------
Pencraft Convertors:
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/edit/en ... 43163bab33

I marked it as "utility:undetermined" as I couldn't find proper category but I know what it does ;) It's a file converter converting files from format used in one application to format used in another application

--------------------
Megascreen Multicolor editor:
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/edit/en ... 4331deef9f

Alternate version for software exisitng in the database

By the way, forgive me uploading all these Russian utilities that nobody needs or cares ;) They have been laying on my hard drive for a very long time and I just have to deal with them before going to the other MIAs.

Test program:

Programmator:

The upload form lacks "country" field. This program is in English but it comes from Russia
