Devfinitive Edition (Steve Crow): vote

Post by PeteProdge »

Thanks to those in the discussion phase this past week who weeded out the games I assigned to Steve Crow but turned out to be rather tenuous. I guess you could say you guys were the Eliminator! Get it? Eliminator. Because you elimin... um... and Eliminator itself was eliminated... er... well... *taps mic*... that gag's not working.

Anyway, ladies and gentlemen...

1. Starquake
2. Firelord
3. Wizard's Lair

Starquake is just one of those classic 48K games from back in the day.
Fast and incredibly smooth gameplay, colourful graphics and amazing sound.
I played Wizard's Lair more than Firelord, but the latter gets a higher vote because of the more novel gameplay mechanics.

3 - Wizard's Lair

Great games. I just wish they weren't spawnalots - you don't get a moment's peace to appreciate the scenery!

Tough choice between Starquake and Wizards Lair.

I wasn't a fan of Firelord - great graphics, sound fx - that chink-chink sound is excellent, but never got anywhere with the game.

1 - Starquake. Like others have stated, this was/is, one of the absolute classic Speccy games. Beautiful to look at, brilliant intro tune, just amazing sfx and the teleporters just added something unique.

2 - Firelord- A very, very close runner up which I think is actually a better looking game than Starquake. Plus it had easily the best spot sfx with the amazing metallic ‘clank’ sound when you died. I loved the idea of the mini-game in shops but i never actually managed to get any special items or steal anything.

3 - Factory Breakout - a great arcade style game.

3 Wizard’s Lair

Yes, I like Laser Snaker! I had no idea this was one of his games. 😊

1. Factory Breakout

3. Starquake

WIzard's Lair looks nice, like a mix between Atic Atac and Sabre Wulf, but I never got on with it. Laser Snaker is pretty good fun but a lot simpler than the later games.

It's a good game! I find it more fun than Wizard's Lair, which I couldn't get into at all.

Star Quake’s going to win, so LS can have my vote. I did enjoy this one as a nipper.

All decent games... And a rare poll where I've actually played them all :dance :dance

1. Starquake
2. Wizard's Lair
3. Factory Breakout

Firelord has beautiful presentation but I really couldn't get very far in it (not for want of trying) compared to the others, so misses out on the top 3.

Starquake
Wizards Lair
Firelord

Factory Breakout i enjoyed a lot too.
I don't have anything cool to put here, so i'll just be off now to see a priest with yeast stuck between his teeth and his friend called Keith who's a hairpiece thief...
