Most iconic ZX Spectrum game characters?

Post by akeley »

There seem to be a lot of grumbling, "we wuz robbed" vibes, and even bar-spitted suggestions in that other thread, so I thought maybe we could just settle it all here? What really are the Sinclair heroes? (and jesters, they can be iconic too)

I guess serious replies would include
-Horace
-Sabreman
-Monty Mole
-Dizzy
...?

Not-so-serious
Kanga - certainly Big In Japan, sorry, SC!
Piman - he was kinda of a meme bitd, wasn't he?
That lady from Game Over's cover - wait...was she in the game at all?
...?

A good starting point is to check this lego montage from the recent thread:

An iconic Spectrum character for me is one that never (officially at least) appeared on the commode 64.

Jetman fits that criteria.

Lol - and he's not even on my lego pic! He was on there for a while, but he was dropped in a restructure, made redundant if you will...
He got a good severance package though. 50p and a packet of Rolos.

For me, its Miner Willy, Wally Week, Sabreman, Magic Knight, Technician Ted or Dizzy.
I don't have anything cool to put here, so i'll just be off now to see a priest with yeast stuck between his teeth and his friend called Keith who's a hairpiece thief...

Secondary: the head-kicking imp from Barbarian. Definitely more famous than the warriors and pixel Maria.

Thinking about those is a bit more fun for me than counting the big shots ;) Though that nice sprite gfx poster certainly helps. How could I forget about Renegade? Does he have a name, actually? Kunio kun or sth?

Nice bit of work there.
