Just saying that when I wanted to get some (for another project unrelated to the Next) the main source (to consumers) in the U.K. was out of stock of the standard Pi Zero model.

Pi Zeroes with a header were however still in stock (with a higher price of course).

The Zero W will work fine with NextPi (accelerator distro based on DietPi), however it won’t make use of the WiFi.

If any future alternate bare metal applications are developed then these may well not support the Zero W (as the hardware differences are not flattened out for bare metal like they are in linux).

Finally, remember that the 2x20 header should be female not male, and should be fitted to the “wrong” side of the Pi - so that the SD card is on the upper side when the Pi is plugged into the male header on the Next board.

I’ve not opened the ZX Spectrum Next yet.

However, I do strongly recommend you use a high quality power filter, this video shows a cut-down version, but I recommend the genuine unit described in my comment. This genuine unit, now with a double layer, gold plated OFC flux capacitor, please contact me, lead sales manager, at https://tinyurl.com/urugt28 where I can offer these at a heavy discounted manager’s special price (for a limited time only) of $399.00

Maybe someone who bought two exemplars with the purpose of selling one at a higher price, who knows.

Does anyone know when the accelerated Nexts will be shipped?

Scalpers be scalpin'...no surprises there. Bit sad, but that's the deal with all these things.
(That first one had a "dead relative" explanation, okay, but I don't suppose they all have such a story ready...)

Every man should plant a tree, build a house, and write a ZX Spectrum game.
