Dinky Digger & Androids (Sunshine) on Spectrum Grey +2

Post by Shocktrooper »

Hello,

I cannot get Dinky Digger & Androids (Sunshine) to work on my Spectrum grey +2.

Dinky Digger loads but does not respond to keyboard and behaves erratic.

Androids does not respond to keyboard and has border timing issue.

Looking for fixes for these, thanks.

I have tried both original tapes and .tzx files.

Androids doesn't work because it reads the keyboard incorrectly. Give these POKEs a try and see if they work for you:

POKE 30029, 230
POKE 30030, 1
POKE 30217, 230
POKE 30218, 4
POKE 30227, 230
POKE 30228, 1
POKE 30237, 230
POKE 30238, 16
POKE 30262, 230
POKE 30263, 8

I had the same problem with Dinky Digger (also on a grey case +2) and thought it was checking for an Issue 2 keyboard. But I've just tried a TZX on Spectaculator, on a 48K Spectrum with Issue 3, as well as a +2, and it seems to work fine...

...at least, about as fine as Dinky Digger ever does work, which is barely at all. When the monsters move faster than your own character the game's not going to last long anyway, so this is one best left on the shelf!
Spectribution: Dr. Jim's Sinclair computing pages.
Features my own programs, modified type-ins, RZXs, character sets & UDGs, and QL type-ins... so far!
