Game art copied from elsewhere
Re: Game art copied from elsewhere
I made a mistake on Rastan earlier. The green creature is copied from the cover of The Savage Sword of Conan 22.
Re: Game art copied from elsewhere
Ralf already identified the origin of the male figure in the Storm cover, but the female figure is also from Vallejo.

Great find with Arkos!
This is a very exact copy, not an inspiration. I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't drawn but photocopied.
Actually it asked for a legal case

Cover of The Punisher (1986 1st series), issue 2
Cover of The Savage Sword of Conan, issue 43
Cosmic Wartoad cover
(Clearly Bob Wakelin was a fan of these two comic series.)

BTW I have started editing the thread to make sure all the images have proper captions, so that if in future the image links break, the discussion can still be followed.

I am not sure about the source of the second face. I first thought it might be Philip Michael Thomas (Tubbs in Miami Vice), but I think it is actually Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian in Star Wars).

Re: Game art copied from elsewhere
I had a quick look and couldn't find the exact source image that was used but I can't help but think that the cover artist for Kosmos may have relied just a tad on Marvel's "Rom: Spaceknight" comic for inspiration here.
Re: Game art copied from elsewhere
Actually I stole that one (and a few others) from this article (and the associated discussion thread):
https://hg101.kontek.net/tracing/tracing.htm
This is a thread about plagiarism, after all....
Re: Game art copied from elsewhere
I had never heard of ROM: Spaceknight before, but you are absolutely right. The resemblance is uncanny.

I can't find the exact source image, but the cover of Eagle clearly shows Vipers from the original Battlestar Galactica movie (1978).
