The right-hand figure in the Amaurote cover closely resembles the one in the Rebel Planet artwork.

Amaurote (1987) might have been copied from Rebel Planet (1985) or both might have copied another source.

I wonder if the Specventure inlay is based on anything well known. Something like The Flash, or maybe a speed skater.

The third Amaurote figure is also from Vallejo:

Boris Vallejo, Tarnsman of Gor

And yes, the buttock-o-meter is now off the scale, and R-Tape's yelling "she cannae take no more!"

This thread shows me how many cover games were inspired by Boris Vallejo. Incredible!

Good spot.

If I ever get round to making another loading screen, it is going to be made entirely from bits of Boris Vallejo paintings for that genuine retro feel.

When you become an illustrator, you automatically receive the “Boris Vallejo Big Book of Poses”. Mine must have got lost in the post which is why I’ve not drawn any life like people. I’m waiting for the reprint this year.

Remember the woman from the National Lampoon picture? Well, she's back - in Double Dragon II, with some adjustments. Her left leg has been repositioned and her right arm replaced with a tentacle wrapped round the guy's neck, but it's her, all right.

(And, of course, it's another Vallejo.)

Is it just me or does this female leg in Double Dragon II inlay seems weirdly long? ;)

so vallejo lives near to a gym and gets the patrons to pose for him, spends a few hours painting them...then everyone else just traces the figures :D

Wednesday morning mini-quiz:

Which Spectrum game do you think this artwork inspired to?

Is it pervy?* I can't see it on two different devices, one says parental controls!

*In which case - Sam Fox Strip Poker.

No. The pic is about two warriors fighting (how original! - Ed)

And the game cover is about two warriors fighting as well.

The game's title contains a divine hero from greek mythology...

It does bear a resemblance to the cover of Gremiln’s Hercules Slayer of the Damned.

I can't remember and find it but it reminds me an inlay of some very classic game from the 80s, probably not for Spectrum though.

It was RPG or text game. And on the inlay there was a very agressive looking warrior with a moustache raising sword to kill some frightened goblin. Actually it made you feel sorry for the goblin ;)

Anyone has any idea what it could be?

That's it! ... or at least it was the first thing that came to my mind when I first saw it!

I think Hercules is actually copied from this picture by You Know Who:
