It's from either the loading screen, or the game menu screen depending on whether it's 48K or 128K version.

Also this might be one of the rare games where the ingame graphics are more detailed in the 128K version, versus the 48K version.

Is that a driving game? Going with Super Monaco GP.

It is a driving game, but it's neither of those.

Super Trux it is

Scroll down on the Spectrum Computing entry and it's there.
Mobygames shows the difference between 48K and 128K presentation.

Of we go again then, while looking for the previous screen I ran into some really nice loading screens of rather obscure games. They all have rather brilliant artwork and abysmal review scores...

Tuareg.

Had to do a lot of searching to find similar looking art style, then check all the credits and see if there was a match.

Wow, I only know a handful of Toposoft games from other publishers. But they sure made pretty loading screens for 1988. The COLISEUM and SURVIVOR screens are mint.

Holy moly. That's good sleuthing.

Bit unkind to do a loading screen of a super obscure Spanish release that only got one review (YS caught it on a compilation and gave it 1/10) so I think you've basically won the thread now.

I searched for later original period games, title screens only, ordered by magazine score, then started paging back through from the end.

I found Bronx on page 49 out of 101, and checked the credits on that one - was still on the no mag scores games at that point.

Only took about 20 minutes in total.

And Coliseum was the link to the previous Super Trux screen which contained a colosseum.

I've mentioned this before, but how about an unwritten rule that the game has to have been reviewed by all of the big 3? If a game wasn't covered by the mag you read, you've got no chance.

That narrows it down to the even more obscure than Tuareg (at least I've never heard of it before) Murray Mouse Supercop. :D

I figured it couldn't be that obscure as it had two OK mag reviews, was released by CodeMasters, had two user reviews, and someone recently modded it with 128K music ported from the C64.

I hadn't heard of it either, though
