I have no interest in golf games, but I thought it was really interesting the way it showed the evolution of a genre from crude 16K BASIC with UDGs, through to the 3D animated interpretations of 5 or 6 years later.

I can't think of any other genre which would show such a stark chronological evolution.
Derek Fountain, author of the ZX Spectrum C Programmer's Getting Started Guide and various open source games, hardware and other projects, including an IF1 and ZX Microdrive emulator.

Haha, I quite liked the golf comparisons... :lol:

Was surprised not to see World Class Leaderboard ("Leaderboard, with added trees!!") and Albatrossity (OK, not a 'proper' golf game, but a modern take on it) in there as well, but I guess there must have been millions of golf games especially early 80s, so that's fair enough.

I did love the interesting golf review. From the simple -and not always crap- early games to the great Leaderboard games.
