Happy numeracy day!
Re: Games for international days
It's Biscuit Day!
Eat them, make them, and (if I can pimp my own work) play the hardest biscuit themed game in the world.
We could debate which is the best biscuit in the world, but it'd be pointless, because everyone knows it's the fig biscuit.

Flag day!
World Flags is quite a nice quiz game, especially as you need to remember what has changed since 1984 (mostly currency).

I might have to give this game a shot, if only to see what it makes of some of the more complicated flags. I'll bet most of them are as bland as the Nigerian tricolour above, though.
World Flags for a ULAPlus Spectrum or a SAM Coupé could be interesting... think how much flag-generating code could be crammed onto an 800K .MGT disc image. Am I giving enough hints yet?

Re: Games for international days
You're right. A few repeats shows that the USA flag is the most complicated. The Spanish one should have a coat of arms (post 1981, if Wikepedia is to be believed) and they've gone with the simple 3 stripes. Surely there's room for some nice UDGs there.
Re: Games for international days
Here in the UK it was National Beer Day yesterday!
It would have been rude not to have celebrated it accordingly....

The fun I had with that before this forum was invented...
Does anyone have any additions to that thread?

Apparently, 7th July is World Chocolate Day. Chocolate is brown. How should we celebrate?
That should do it!

If I didn't know better I'd swear they were making these up. 8th July is Chocolate with Almonds day. I'm off to play Ritter Sport's only foray into Spectrum games: the 1987 adventure game "Chocolate Charlie in Almond Land".

I’m not eating that.
Every man should plant a tree, build a house, and write a ZX Spectrum game.

Re: Games for international days
Little known fact: as well as demanding that the graphics resembled the cartoon as much as possible (thus giving birth to Don Priestley's incredible effort with the electronic brushes and pencils), Warner Bros. also wanted the loading process to be Popeye-esque. They refused to budge until Sir Clive himself explained at great length that no, it was not possible to force the Spectrum to produce the command LOADSK "".

Re: Games for international days
And while this isn't a game for an International Day, it is a game for today:
I am told, via Five Live's commentators, that Nick Faldo was the last English winner of The Open when it was hosted in England... but he wasn't, merely the last English winner. He won three Opens, all hosted in Scotland (two at Muirfield); the last English winner of The Open in England was Tony Jacklin, in 1969.
52 years of hurt, never stopped me dreaming, etc etc etc.
I am also now imagining an updated version of this game, Bryson DeChambeau Plays The Open, in which the caddie asks "Are you sure?" every time a driver is selected - even on a 600-yard par 5, and on any par 3 hole, the object of the game is to smash the ball onto the green on the next hole. Happy Gilmore would surely approve.
ALSO: the sequel to the above, Bryson DeChambeau Plays The US Open, is compatible with the Currah Microspeech. Every tee shot, whether it's on a par 3 or a 650-yard par 5, will greet the player with "GET IN THE HOLE!" twanged out by the Spectrum's worst peripheral. Or, if you're lucky, this will be replaced by "MASHED POTATO!" for reasons which have never been made clear.
NOTE VERY WELL: I will look very favourably upon anyone who makes Bryson DeChambeau Plays The US Open for this year's CSSCGC, even though all the Majors have been played for this year now.

Re: Games for international days
Quite a few fit today.
Moon day
A day to celebrate the Moon landings on this day in 1969. Once you've mastered Apollo Moon Lander, a near perfect simulation, be prepared for the lunar crabs.
World Jump Day
A day to celebrate the (hopefully not entirely serious) suggestion of a German artist that everyone jumps at the same time on one side of the planet, in order to shift its orbit. I suppose Bugaboo is an obvious jump choice, but if anyone's going to shift the earth with a jump, it's the big lug Golliath in Captain Trueno (not seen in this screenshot).
Space exploration day.
The moon and beyond. All things space. Keep your Elites and Captain Bloods, give me Encyclopedia Galactica anyday.

And in 21th july it's world junk food day:
Re: Games for international days
I approve most massively of Space Exploration Day and Encyclopaedia Galactica. However, may I also offer Las Aventuras de Eustaquio I from this year's CSSCGC for a more "Down to Earth" experience? I will apologise for the dreadful pun after the heat death of the universe.
Also, for World Junk Food Day, if there was a CSSCGC entry in which the object of the game is ride around the local Wal-Mart in Podunk, Arkansas on a mobility scooter buying all the pizzas and Coca-Cola, I'd recommend it. But there isn't, so have this instead:
