Okay - I need the practise! (Especially as this one looks more like Steven Lewis with a mullet).

Re: Doodlebugs
Thanks Dave, you've done it proud (as the kids of today say) with those matches and the steely hard stare of a box-ticking testing QA person.

Re: Doodlebugs
I knew this would baffle a few people (especially those outside of the UK).
It's a direct reference to Channel 4 sitcom Friday Night Dinner. Nerdy neighbour Jim (played by Mark Heap) constantly interrupts the Goodman family and he's very well meaning, always greeting them with excessive cries of "Shalom!"...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZOuMLyXtJ4
The phrase "Shalom, Jackie" is regarded as one of the show's many catchphrases, even though it was only said once in the programme!
Even though it's a suburban sitcom and I'm making it sound very Terry-and-June-esque, almost like the fictional 'Oh Crikey!' that crops up in The Young Ones, Friday Night Dinner is astonishingly good and genuinely subversive. I think all of it is on All4. Or Netflix. Or maybe a bit of both.

PeteProdge wrote: ↑Wed Mar 16, 2022 10:21 am Well, for a year I tried to search out arcades to find this "Green Berry". Yep.
I pictured it as some cutesy early 80s post-Pac-Man game - cartoon berries wandering round a maze or something. I still like this idea.
h/t @Daveysloan and @XTM in the memes thread of course!

This is awesome.
But more tangents are needed.
Come on, Raspberry Beret. It could feature Prince walking through a thrift store ogling at women.

What do we owe you for recycling, err, trading in your idea?

Or even a 'Little Brown Chevette' as the title of a Darren Hayman song goes. I'm not fussy.

Hehe. This thread definitely misses the like button!
Re: Doodlebugs
Here's the full page of the ad featuring the Green Bert one I posted a while ago.
The Prodigy one is by MatGubbins. Ankaranoid was inspired by a class mate from school, he had a pirated Arkanoid on C64 disk and I think he had written either Ankaranoid or Arankanoid on the label ... and the Combat Skool Daze you've seen on this thread before, I just figured I could reuse it for the ad.
Translation of the blurbs:
- 4 new stars in the software sky
- The wait is over!
- The smash hits from England now on your micro!
- Fun guaranteed - or your money back!
- In shops soon - of course only from "DocSockshotSoft" (the name is a translation of a german nick I use on another site. When you say someone has a "sockshot" it menas he's "lost a few marbles").
