Wow, this is a very nice game to play... And I don't even particularly like racing games that much..

I love all the little cut scenes in the game too. I would've played this to death back in the day to try to get to the end of the story.

Very nice loading screen too.

This game engenders a healthy fear and respect of level-crossings, that’s for sure!

It’s like The Fast and The Furious, just without the DVD-player-theft subplot. Salud Mi Familia!

My jaw literally dropped at this very moment.

My word, Zosya really are the Naughty Dog of ZX gamedev. Amazing production. Super-stylish gfx, wonderful sfx, tech-marvel, and top-notch gameplay. I especially love how they seamlessly weave a cool cutscene-driven narrative into what is basically a racing game. This really is a "Candidato a GOTY!".

EDIT: and, yeah, it's free. Now that's some way to promote your game. Gotta be there in July, throwing money at them for the tape/CD release...

This game is astounding. If this had been released in '88 it's the type of game I would have used to show-off the sheer awesomeness of the Speccy.

The sense of speed in this game is like nothing I've seen on a Speccy driving game.

I'm up to stage 16 at the moment, so just over a quarter-way through by Andre's count (how he finished it this quickly I'll never know), and all I can really say is that Zosya have created yet another superlative production. Every last detail has been considered - the excellent graphics, the brilliant sound effects, the tight controls and the fluidity of the motion all make for one heck of an entertaining game. And to think it fits in just 128K!

One gets even more enjoyment when going back to play earlier stages and noticing points one hadn't picked up on earlier. I have my PC emulators set to output sound in mono, so imagine my surprise when I copied the game to my DS Lite and heard the cars rush past me on either side thanks to the ACB stereo. Little touches like that are what make a great game into a work of genius!

Be rest assured Zosya, you will have my money for a physical copy, even though I only have a 48K!

Great game if a bit difficult.
Lovely graphics, great, smooth movement with gives a true feeling of speed.
Even the story is good and you want to know how it develops.

Good work Zosya, you are my heroes! :D

What I love about it is the fact that you have to actually take note of the signs at the side of the road.
Spoiler
To get past the first train you have to slow down just after you see the railroad crossing side at the side of the road.

I played it a bit more.

It's great but it's not flawless. The biggest problem is that it becomes after some time a bit tedious. I would say it's too long.

Graphics are great and realistic but are not varied enough. At each level you see the same lampposts, signs and zebra crossings.
In games like Chase H.Q. or even Outrun each level had something unique.

At some moment it becomes like driving a real car ;) Exciting when you are 18 but rather ordinary later.

I guess however that it's not the last word from Zosya when it comes to driving simulation. So I'll try to complete this one
(and I complete few new games recently) and will be waiting for more :)

I agree with everything Ralf said, basically. It's a very cool game and great fun to play but could do with being a bit shorter.

The graphics and the speed are superb. The handling is excellent. The size of the cars on the road feels about right - space for overtaking is tight but not unfairly so. Sometimes you just need to be patient, tap the brakes and wait for the right opportunity. My impatience often gets the better of me on the really tight bends and I end up clipping a lamppost. Reading the road signs is really important to knowing what's up ahead. It's amazing how much there is to discover in the game and every now and then it'll throw up something new like a cut-scene or a game mode you haven't seen before. I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but it's quite epic.

The slight issue as Ralf said, is that over 60 levels the content becomes diluted and the game starts to feel samey. You do feel as though you're driving the same sections of road over and over, despite details like tunnels, bridges and water. To be fair, it's hard to imagine any driving game that could carry off 60 levels. The best "Road-trip" driving games like Outrun or Lotus 2 had relatively few levels with distinct themes. This is a genre all of its own, but like a '70s double-album, it could do with a bit of trimming down.

But overall it's a cracking game. I'm half-way through and I'm sure I'll play to the end. I'm intrigued what they can pull out for Vol. 2. Highly recommended. An 8 or 9/10 for me.
