My first ZX81

Post by Nitrowing »

I've never seen a ZX81 before and was quite shocked at how small it is! I always imagined it to be the size of a Spectrum but with a longer back :?

The small dimensions were required for it to properly wedge underneath the end of doors.

Did no one tell you that it’s a pocket sized machine

Obviously you do need wide pockets…

The Spectrum needed to be much larger in order to fit the extra 47k in.

To be fair you've not got the front ends in line :D

Off topic: Somewhere there's a pic of a ZX80+ZX81+ZX82 (Speccy) sat next to each other for size comparison, I can't find it now am about 75% sure it was on this forum too last year or possibly earlier.

Did you purchase said ZX81 then ? I think you'll like it. :D , plenty of support here and elsewhere if you have any issues.

Yeah, I bought the ZX81 and a +2 Action Pack (haven't opened that box yet) to sit and collect dust in front of my TV beside the rubber-key and Next.
Use it? I doubt I'll even turn it on

I actually looked at the computer that's been sitting on the landing for 15 years, it's an Atari 520ST (left by an old lodger).

Actually which one, a 520ST, 520STF, 520STFM 520ST+ or a 520STe?
