Pentagram artwork

Post by Nitrowing »

As not to derail another thread...
I have some Ultimate black cardboard boxes but would like another. One that either doesn't exist or, if it does, would probably be so outrageously priced that I wouldn't buy it

Pentagram.
I have the MSX jewel and ZX double jewel but they don't look as pretty as the black boxes :?

As you can see from the photos, neither would blow up well enough to have printed for a match to the other titles.

How would I find a decent, large copy of the art to have reproduced to stick on a spare black box?

Nice recreation of the artwork and box there Mark, thanks for uploading them.

I have these Ultimate posters from when they kept sending me stuff after buying Nightshade direct from them.

However, the print quality is bad,

yes, it's that bad....

The folds are natural, they were posted flat.

Yeah, I've searched for new ones with no luck. I'm afraid I'm going to be using an existing box unless I can fabricate one

I made a start on instruction booklet versions of pentagram and gunfight, in a similar layout style to knight lore, underwurlde etc. it looked alright, but remains unfinished, lack of time etc. I saw Marks beautiful pentagram box and felt inspired!😂

Also Jetpac and Pssst too.

Does Chris Wilkins from Fusion Retro Books read here? One of his Kickstarters featured a boxed version of Mire Mare in very limited numbers (35 copies):

Perhaps he could shed some light on how they were made?

He repurposed Sinclair Make-A-Chip and Survival boxes, and there were apparently around 115 made.

Ah ok, thanks. Maybe one of these days I'll get down Hobbycraft and see what they've got in the way of thick matte black card. It should be possible to make something similar with the right measurements. How hard can it be?*

Actually, hobby craft did do a textured black card stock that was extremely close to the original ultimate boxes. That was probably 5 years ago though. I made a box after measuring sabre wulf very accurately. Then I did a knight lore box only to discover that it was different by quite a few mm overall. It seems there wasn’t a high degree of accuracy in the manufacturing process 30 odd years ago.

Not that you’d notice much of a difference, and the vacuum formed cassette holder still fitted ok. They were quite flexible, so plenty of squish and wiggle room.

No. Those aren't those boxes. They are wider and completely black and the lid lifts right off like a shoe box.

Apologies for reviving an old thread but I'm still on the hunt for boxes.
I contacted about 6 companies in the end and none of them were interested :(
