Welcome one and all!

Image

I am proud to announce the opening of 2022's comp.sys.sinclair Crap Game Competition, and unveil the motto of this year's event: "Cassette 50 levels of quality in the 40th year of the ZX Spectrum" (or "Cassette quinquaginta gradus qualitatis in XL anno ZX Imaginis " as they say in Latin).

Head on over to : http://crapgamescompetition2022.great-site.net

...to enjoy/endure the opening ceremony (and the zeroth review).

uglifruit! Attention! I'm trying to get a submission in, but your all-new address is bouncing it back at me.

I've sent it to the address you used to send me games.

Red alert (no moaning Kryten, just change the smegging light bulb), Shields up! Close all blast doors. Dive, dive dive! Pull the blinds down. And now hide under the table…

:!: Standby alert :!:
“There are four lights!”
Step up to red alert. Sir, are you absolutely sure? It does mean changing the bulb :dance
Looking forward to summer later in the year.

Hmmm. I am going to go all out on "Unnecessary Effort" for a lot of entries this year, seeing as it's what I've openly encouraged. But "Over-reach"? I have no idea what that is except when forces beyond my control are doing it.

But... whatever! My hosting days are done and I'm going to have a programming bonanza until the Grim Reaper stops me, and I don't mean Steve Grimmett, his metal leg and the rest of his band.

If you ever impersonate Bruce Dickinson again, be sure to not pick one of his most embarrassing misadventures.

Well yes, it was bouncing emails then. (Who knew you'd be *quite* that quick off the blocks). It's working now.

I knew, and Turrican knew, having done exactly the same to me exactly a year ago. That's who!

By the way: don't forget to post the reviews on CSS. It may be deader than A-line flares with pockets in the knees, but it's a TRADITION!

Do you ever get a bit of remorse after submitting a crap game, and wish you'd made it just a little bit less crap? or is it just me.

Is that an admission?

Depends…

Technically, it’s often said that software is never finished… it’s not unusual for an idea on how to improve it occurs after it’s been ‘finished’.

WEEK 1:

Do you remember way back in the distant past of 2021?
Jim Waterman was now hosting CSSCGC having been too-darned-uncrap in 2020. With most competitions there is a (probably unwritten) rule that the the judges can't enter themselves (matron). So Jim schemed and PLOTted and programmed and sent his first submission to the 2022 CCSCGC just after the stroke of midnight.

BEHOLD, the first entry: Big Clives Supergayrainbow Ulaplus Bear Flag Edition

Image

And don't let deja vu get the better of you. This is different to his 2020 QL entry, this uses the ULAplus!
