PicoDivSD update possible?

For experts to discuss very technical stuff and newbies to ask why the Spectrum they bought off ebay doesn't work.

PicoDivSD update possible?

Post by djh0ffman »

Anyone know if its possible to update the firmware on a PicoDivSD? I've had the device for years but started using it recently but I can't find any manuals online or anything.

I can run ESXDOS 0.8.5 on it but I'd like to get it updated to use long filenames if possible. I tried running the flash tool on the spectrum but it says to set JP2/E jumper which the board doesn't seem to have.

Any help would be amazing, thanks.

Have you tried removing the 'DIVSD DISABLE' jumper when the message appears?

You may need to unprotect the EEPROM first:

You could try using this guide.

I couldn't find the '1.TAP' or the '2.TAP' on Piotr's site, but I'm pretty sure '1.TAP' refers to the EPROTECT utility available here.
Use the 'ESXMMC.TAP' from your new ESXDOS zipfile (i.e. the latest version from the ESXDOS site) in place of '2.TAP'.
