* Spectrum graphics improvements (continuation of #9218). Routines have been cleaned and optimized based on the current state of
graphics_device. All configurations are done in terms of T-States/pixels which will simplify adjustment to proper timings.
...The Zilog Z80 CPU has had a bit of an overhaul this month, allowing more accurate memory access timings for the ZX Spectrum family. This fixes a lot of broken visual effects and other glitches.
...SDL builds (the default for Linux and macOS) now detect game controller reconnection. Note that due to limitations of SDL itself, MAME may confuse similar controllers, potentially causing issues if multiple controllers are disconnected at the same time. Issues using MIDI input or output with 64-bit Windows builds should be fixed.

- Just noticed that the only way to play the Spectrum version of Inspector Gadget was through its Russian bootleg arcade game
"Brodjaga", so I added its only official release (was cancelled in the UK but released in Spain).
- Also added a couple of demos that I found laying around in a very old backup, and which aren't already included in any cover
tapes:
* LSD Megademo
* The Ren and Stimpy Slideshow (a kind of lame slideshow of a few black and white pics, but with a decent presentation)
-cpu/z80: Improved timing within instructions. (#9449) [holub]
* This allows improved emulation of bus contention in the ZX Spectrum family.

The highly-anticipated release of MAME 0.245 has finally arrived!
...
Thanks in large part to the efforts of Ignacio Prini and Manuel Gomez Amate, the ZX Spectrum cassette software list now includes the Spanish MicroHobby magazine cover tape and type-in program collection. A number of prototypes cartridges have been added for the Game Boy, Super NES and other consoles. Commodore 64 tapes, Apple II floppies, and game music rips in VGM format have each seen a batch of additions.
Other highlights include:

Hello everyone
Has anybody tried the latest version of the mame .260 emulator?
Since mess merged with mame I stopped following it but recently
I decided to try it and my findings are
Opus, disciple and +d - work ok
gamma disk betadisc 128 and cbi - ok
now also include kempstondos and watfor spdos - ok
swiftdisk 1 and 2 - ok
floppy1 by rocky gush - I can successfully formatted disks
speccydos - I discovered how to exchange data between mame and x128
also the proceed1 and sdi 1541 plus microdrive and wafadrive but these
latest none of them work as expected
sdi hangs with cat
proceed1 returns error with any command
mdr gives image length error and does not accept any mdr
wafa does not recognize any wdr cartridge inserted
@Seven.FFF: MAME Next public alpha CI builds are here https://github.com/holub/mame/actions?q ... nch%3Anext. MAME Pick your OS then download the artifact. For windows you have to use the gcc build not the clang build. Create a `roms` subdirectory and put `tbblue.zip` directly in that without unzipping. Command line to start is `mame -window -mouse_device none tbblue -hard1 C:\path\to\cspect-next-2gb.img`.
I'm using the gold master 2.08 image and it's working fine (although there are some SD emulation issues so fine is relative).
