If there's a life-threatening emergency nearby, I won't know about it - I never had any message earlier today. Did anyone else miss it, or is it just because I have a 15-year-old 2G phone? Or is there someone who doesn't want me to know?

Either way, Mr Putin, if you could hold off from letting the nukes fly until after I've received my Next and had a decent chance to use it, I'd appreciate that. So would quite a lot of other people, even those who haven't ordered a Next, and a fair few of those are in your own country.

Never got the alert message, didn't switch anything off. Others arrived 5 minutes later and that would be great for the 3 minute warning.... as it came and went in a flash.

Didn't hit my personal 4G phone. Did hit my work 4G phone.

The former is probably because of the Three UK network, where the vast majority of their users report not getting the alert. My work phone is with another network.

In an alternative universe, he told Their Kevin he were gettin' t'Commodore for his birthday but it were t'VIC-20 and Pa bought only one crate of cheap Manns brown ale (2.8% ABV) for himself.

In this universe, Our Kevin and Pa both got the better end of the deal.

NOTE: Manns brown ale is all right, actually - and so is Mackeson stout, which is also only 2.8% these days.
