Colour Beyond Time Part 2

Post by Jbizzel »

Hi guys,

I just wanted to provide a quick update in case anyone is interested in how its going and wondering if it is going at all. The work on part two continues at pace! Most nights are now dedicated to bringing the small town of Podkamennaya to life.

Its hard to talk about without spoilers, but part two is much a much bigger area to explore and more puzzles and story.

I introduced a score system to the game. The score isn't achieved by doing the main features of the game necessary to progress. Instead, there are secrets to discover, and the score is based on them.

I'd estimate part two is about 25% to 30% complete

Part 1 is available here, if you haven't tried it...

As they say, the last 10% takes 90% of the time.

So to hell with that last part, skip it and ship ten times as many games.

Part 2 is released!

Let me know how you get on.

If you have the password from part 1, enter it while you are in your hotel room.

Let me know if you spot any bugs or get stuck.

Not bad so far, solved a couple of puzzles. The archive is a little dark and the boatyard is a little troublesome gaining entry!! :D

I have to hold my hand up and say I tried to rush things on Sunday. I wanted to get it all done while I have some free time. Sadly, I forgot to proof read the text before I issued the release. Version 2.3, which is available now is proof read and includes some other minor fixes.

I am worried I've made a particular puzzle insanely too hard. If anyone wants clues let me know.

Working on the next version, I'm going for a ULA+ vibe. I drew this pictures in GIMP and then converted them to give to a ULA plus image with ZX paintbrush.

So, I feel like I should wait before playing. It's getting better every day...

Interesting one. I wrote part 2 to end on a cliff hanger. But if you intend to play on the next and want all three parts together you might wish to wait.

The graphics are quite a big job and I need to write act 3. Hopefully in a few weeks

Part 3 is progressing well.

Finally managed to get a *door* to work. There is only one actual door in the whole game..they drove me mad!

Had fun making this today. And watching my game load from tape on real hardware 😀

My other half thought I was mad! Especially when I told her the loading time is 5 minutes

That's very cool, though. Something I haven't really done myself lately. (Although I have, occasionally, sent games down the audio wire from a laptop).

Inlay next. ;) Well... finish the game then inlay. :)

Pro move now would be to take out 6 months of double-page ads in Crash.
